for driving a car while using a mobile phone?

5p?
10p?

You'd think so.
I even saw a guy pull out of his driveway into a busy road while chatting on his moby.

I can understand quickly taking a call on a quiet road, "call you back, I'm driving" sort of thing, but this guy didn't give a jot.
I do wish I was in an unmarked police car sometimes.
Rant over :)

The ladies are worst for using mobiles while drivng. The amount of women I see is unbeleilable. School run time is when the coppers should be out looking for these people. God help anyone who ever drives into me while using a phone..............They'll wish the court would lock them up quickly

It's always white van drivers and middle aged women in Chelsea tractors on their way to the shops or to pick Johnny up from school. You don't work all day dear, use that time to talk to your hubby or lover

daily run on the A1, so I get to see a good cross-section of idiots and scofflaws.
Some of the most frequent are in HGV, always speed in one 50 limit and never seem to care about the camera at the end of it, and those with the phone held to right ear with left hand while trying to manoeuvre an FBT through a round-a-bout.
I've seen the guy reading while in a moving traffic jam, and the number of women who put their make-up on at 60 mph.

I was following behind an oil tanker today on a narrow 'B' road, and the idiot driver was on his mobile.

This particular road is very bendy and narrow and no overtaking possible. It would have only taken a slight lapse of his concentration where he drifted over into oncoming traffic! Doesn't bear thinking about!!

and those with the phone held to right ear with left hand

Which brings me on to hijack the thread a tad.....

Why?

Being a 99% right handed person, I have always held the phone with my left hand to my left ear. Can't understand the sense of not doing so. Saves trying to strangle yourself (when phones had cords) and frees the use of the right hand for writing, doodling, or whatever.

OK. I know that it is a brain function thing - left side of the brain controlling the right side of the body and vica versa - so have I got it right? Incoming in left ear, out going via pen on right side.

Maybe I, Mickleson, Weir haven't got it wrong after all. Right handed people playing "left handed". :) :)

This is where the law is an arse.

You cant use the phone as a phone. However, you can legally use it as a dictaphone and hold it to your mouth and talk into it to record observations. A famous comedian got let off on this loop-hole recently.

Also, if it has Sat-Nav function you can sit there and dick about with that legally.

Back to phone use, I dont like it, I use a bluetooth, however the worst of all is people texting whilst driving. I got his hard up the rear a few years ago by some silly blonde bint in a punto. I was in a line of traffic and noticed her not slowing down in the mirror. I could see she wasnt looking ahead. Anyhow she reamed into the arse of my car, we got out, I phoned the law and then when they arrived pointed out her phone laying in the drivers footwell with a half-typed text on it apparently so the copper said.

I think they should come down hard on this, it should be 6 points and a fine of £500 or so. 3 points and a bullseye doesnt really deter does it.

Got to be honest...
the last accident I was involved in which was my fault was due to me glancing down at my phone when I received a text message one morning.
Trouble is, I was driving one of my customers brand new cars, taking it in for it's first service.
Wet road, looked back up and the car in front of me had stopped. Slammed on the anchors but slid into the back of her car. £700.00 worth of damage.
Ooooops!

PS He wasn't very happy.
