£60 & 3 pts. I have to hold my hand up as I got pulled in Sept.
Lady plod asked if I had called out or received... WTF difference does that make?
I was guilty, held my hand up and took my punishment.

Incidentally I was saw an artic driver shaving with a philishave whilst driving and looking in his mirror whilst doing so.

Also, when are they going to ban smoking in a car?. Lighting up with the lighter whilst holding a ciggy is far more dangerous as both hands are off the wheel.

I think this is a lot of fuss over nothing but then again, I am not very good at being told what i can and can't do.

I often shave when on my way to work. I can do two things at once. Don't need to look in a mirror when shaving with an electric.

And in the 90's before hands free and the law being changed, I used to spend hours on the phone when driving. I do about 20K miles a year, made hundreds of calls and never came close to anything even remotely approaching an accident. I am also perfectly capable of eating an apple or drinking coffee whilst driving, but again, I am breaking the law if I do so.

Also, accidents will happen on the road for lots of reasons. Banning some of the things that MAY be a contributary factor whilst leaving others as legal seems unfair to me. These new offences have had very little effect, if any on the statistics for RTA's.

For example and as mentioned by someone else - smoking in a car? FFS! It is legal to smoke a burning cigarette whilst driving but you can't eat an apple!

Seems daft to me.

That's why I start a small fire in the footwell for long journeys, much safer than using a lighter!

They should ban my missus from being a passenger so I don't have to listen to her constant updates on who's braking 8 miles in front of me.

I remind her we have something in common.. Eyes :D

My mate took these photos on the way back from Bearwood Lakes earlier this year (would have been a bit hypocritical if I'd have taken them!!!), of a woman in the middle lane of the M25 doing about 40 mph.....reading a book!!!! :D :D
