was out for a few holes tonight and was just playing me 2nd shot on the 5th when a guy comes over from the 12th green.

" i dropped my putter cover on the 7th could you pick it up and drop in in to the pro shop"

then off he went back to his game.

not so much as a please or thank you!!!

so what would you have done?

It's still there, I could not see the cover that someone had thrown in a bush.

Manners cost nowt.

Handed it in and next time I saw him I'd ask him if he got it and await his response, if he was bad mannered again I'd say something.

Lack of manners means i would have ignored his request.

If he had added a "much appreciated bud" or similar, i would have hunted high and low for it and been made up to have helped him out

As you were only out "playing a few holes" I would have gone from the 6th green to the 8th tee missing out the 7th altogether.
If he then asked if you had found it I would have just replied "didn't play the hole mate".

Please is not required but it is a nice to have. I'm not so petty that I would let it stop me helping someone. I might remind them later.

Manners are a big part of my sport, should show respect for FCs etc and other patrons alike.

i don't think he was a member, so could not say anything at a later date.

Didn't see it anyway, he may have been mistaken where he dropped it. i cut across from the 7th green to the 10th tee, so might have been there.

TBH if he hadn't spoken to me at all i would have picked it up anyway, his rudeness and lack of manners made me question what i would have done had i found it.

I think, if I had stumbled upon the headcover, I would have taken it back with me and handed it in to the pro shop, but I would not have gone actively looking for it (which I might have felt obliged to do if the guy had asked nicely).

I would have taken a selfie with it covering a certain part of my anatomy and printed it in a reward style poster asking for a 5 quid release fee (or a simple thank you). with a condition that the washing of the putter cover was the owners responsibility.
