Would you get a mate disqualified from a comp?

Yep, I have done so and would do it again, every time. There are rules and they are there to be followed for EVERYONE. There are no exceptions. He didn't tap in a putt from 2 inches and refused to do so before teeing off at the next hole. Goodbye. Shame as he missed out on "2's money" aswell :)

Me too !! In fact I am that Doris and the passing gentleman and I exchanged a "good morning" as neither of us knew what else to do :o

funnily enough I can only ever remember my Mrs getting 'caught short' on the course once - and not having any tissues in her bag - and me having a spare golf towel in mine - and jesus wept

Just couldnt bring myself to do it, doesnt matter who it was. I know rules are rules and we have rules for a good reason, but grass someone up, no sorry just not me.

Ha ha ha !! Nice one....I used to do endurance running and you get used to the great outdoors in more ways than one (never mind the lack of loo roll)!!

rich - you aren't a skier by any chance ?- that's a standard line on one of the skiing forums i occasioanlly frequent

I never said I was original. :) When I was younger I did go skiing, but haven't been for years. I hear the skis are no longer made of wood now.;)

One of the guys I play with on a regular basis is a terrible cheat, but I turn a blind eye to it, even in comps. We often joke about him teeing his ball up in the rough, but I'm convinced he does LOL

Except if you know about it you should both be disqualified for breaking the rules of golf.

Sorry but if you condone cheating particularly in a comp then you are as big a cheat as the perpetrater. I'd pull him up every time until he either learned to play within the rules or stopped entering the comps and trying to diddle everyone. What would happen if your mate won and had cheated in doing so.

I once made a big thing about conceding an opponents putt after he had marked and replaced the ball. Something along the lines of 'that wasnt ok until you marked and replaced it - but it is now'...........
