• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

What would you ban next ?

No, I have some that are not quite trainer socks but not quite ankle socks, for wearing with shorts, what would you prefer to be worn? Those calf length beige jobs?

Er, well its the colour really. Got pulled up today for wearing black (to match the shoes) instead of white, changed them for white "ankle" socks and that seemed to be fine? Yet I never see visitors or females get pulled over, seems a bit sexist and vistitorist to me?

The wearing of caps/hats whilst being interviewed/accepting trophies. I know they pay a fortune to sponsor you, but it doesn't mean that you can ignore basic manners.

Or hyper, slightly strange tour pros, with a pre shot routine that makes you want to beat them with a 4 iron, on being interviewed following a tour win and being asked how they kept it together over the back nine stating 'it's this new Srixon ball - it's taken my game to a whole new level'.

You are not struggling for cash, shameless plugging like that just insults the watching public because only morons believe it. Once the anchoring ban comes in to force I hope you disappear - for ever.

Yes, I'm talking to you Bradley.............

I'm a member of a hotel based club so we aren't too anal on dress, they aren't going to knock back the hotel guest £, TBH though we never get anyone who isn't reasonably dressed.

Ban allocated parking spaces in car park for the pro, secretary, captain, lady captain, treasurer, management committee. Why should they one?
Stinks of snobbery IMO

That much was very very obvious.... And I agree with every word.. (which is a shame because he looks like a decent fella with some serious issues)..

And a very talented golfer, the ridiculous sponsor plug in that particular interview really grated though

Mcdowell is as bad as anyone. He's developed this habit of flashing his giant ( I won't name the brand) watch in front of the camera during his post round interviews. Always thought he was a bit of a knob Tbh.

Ban handicaps. The thread on here about 'protecting a handicap' and an incident last week were a guy at my club shot -10 nett then tried to avoid getting a cut strengthens my dislike for them.

People that are new to the game or poor at the game do not deserve to "be competitive".

Bomber likes this:thup:

Full time secretary? Yeah he/ she deserves one, they work there full time and shouldn't have to park half a mile down the road. Captains? if they are decent at their job then they are putting in a lot of time for the benefit of the club so personally, IMHO, they should have one. As an aside, our pro, who is also the director of golf (we have no secretary) doesn't have one.

It did take me aback a little and I think most at the club wouldn't have batted an eyelid, so its just an individual. Image IS everything to me, I have two pairs of shoes, white and black. I had black shoes on today, so obviously selected black socks to match as image is everything to me. Luckily when I was pulled up, I had three spare sets of socks in the boot just in case I had a change of mood!

I was nearby when Quiros was asked to take his cap off for photo and politely declined, pointed that he was contracted to wear it wherever possible in such situations.

They'd also have to put glare protectors on cameras if interviewing Bjorn, Furyk, Kuchar, Stricker, Cink and quite a few others - shortly Woods too!

Hey! Bomber's back from his talking cobblers bypass op - how did it go?

Aahh, failure I see :D

No cobblers TheClaw has it spot on, ban handicaps and keep the Chompers off our fairways. Mind you most of them miss the fairways anyway but you get the drift.

It really is the way to go.

I think there is the root of the problem, sock choice when wearing shorts can't surely just be down to shoe colour, there has to be some sort of flow from headgear down to the sole of the shoe.

Yours sympathetically

Gok
