What would you ban next ?

In reply to Homers post. Athletes improve, they always have through science and understanding of the game and it's needs. Yes equipment helps as it also improves but making the ball go shorter is surely like extending the 100 meters to 120 because times are getting quicker. Instead of punishing our elite let them get on with it as they bear no resemblance to the 99,9% of real golfers.

Very good point sir. Getting worked up about banning things that would only realistically effect a minuscule proportion of people that play the game is a bit of a waste of time in my book.

Sorry mate, you normally talk a lot of sense, but ...

Caddies are there to assist player, so line-up is legitimte.
... Is tosh

If caddies are there to assist the player, why don't we get caddies to play our shots for us ???
They are there to carry the bag, and that should be it - no reading lines, no lining up.
Personally, I'd get rid of caddies and make players all carry. Then they can choose how many clubs they'd carry .

I ban idiots that shout "get in the hole"

No need - just string the first one at each event to do it, leave them there to rot as a deterrent.....

Next year when the Tour comes back just the bones will be left to remind those who like to make too much noise that there is a consequence!

Ban course maintenance of any sort once the tournament starts - only the hole can be moved, no cutting greens, tees, fairways or rough and no bunker raking by the players or caddies either.

Sundays would be carnage!!!!!

Banning Caddies makes more sense than limiting what they can do.

To suggest they be allowed to hit the shots is so ridiculous it doesn't warrant a reply!

There are some stunningly bizarre ideas on this thread, I can only assume it's down to the total lack of a tongue in cheek smiley.

Absolutely agree... but - if I could ban one thing it would be taking a divot...................

I know, controversial but, it makes me cringe every time I see it. I watch these pro's hacking the courses to bits and I always think about the poor groundsman having to repair the fairway (although recently, Phil Mickelson took a wedge on a green and took a giant divot!!)

this is up there, right up there! are you serious ?

The wearing of caps/hats whilst being interviewed/accepting trophies. I know they pay a fortune to sponsor you, but it doesn't mean that you can ignore basic manners.

Ban handicaps. The thread on here about 'protecting a handicap' and an incident last week were a guy at my club shot -10 nett then tried to avoid getting a cut strengthens my dislike for them.

People that are new to the game or poor at the game do not deserve to "be competitive".
