What would Rory shoot round your course?

Not being Debbie downer. But Rory isn't that good.He has length; However he has some major swing issues that need addressed.Until than he will just be lost in mid pack

That'll be why he was 2nd tee to green last year?

If he putts well, then he invariably wins. I don't think there are too many on tour that would turn down his swing.

I was more just meaning any top tour pro who turns up with their A game, however really I believe if everyone on tour rocks up to an event playing their best golf it's either Rory or DJ who wins every time.

The last time he played my local course (I could only dream of being a member there but play there as much as I can) he scored 68,72,68,65 and an overall -15 at the Omega Desert Classic.

On a regular 6500 plus course he's not shooting in the 50s.

72 holes of golf in the day for Macmillion cancer support was a great idea.. they should do it with the pros.. send them out for the day.. see how many course records would be broken in a day

Don't know what he would shoot nowadays but I do know that in 2006 he shot 67 nett 71 round our Old Course

No idea what his best is round The Glashedy

Seen that in the club house.

Scary is the word that comes to mind.

Always remember the uncle telling me about two builders playing a match against Rory and another guy.. this was when Rory was but a boy

The builders said to the guy with rory. Thats nice you have the cub down to caddy for you today. The man replied no that's my playing partner.

The two men looked at one another and were thinking it's going to easy. Nailed there drive off the first and then rory stepped up and hit it about 20/30 yards past them. Was safe to say the lads still tell this story today.

Glashedy would be a interesting one. Do I remember someone tell me there is some 90bunkers on it now. If I played there I be off about 18 lol

In the 19 80 s Nigel Mansell used to be a member of the course I play and being very good friends with the then world number 1 Greg Norman he brought him over to play our course and Castletown, Greg shot 70 (level) at our course and 65 (-7) at Castletown, Castletown had the better greens and also he had yardages which I think helped him score, very good to watch though.

Interesting thought. Our course record stands at 65 and has been played only once, 11 years ago by a visiting European Tour player. So I think, unless Rory has an exceptionally good day, he'd do similar. Course is a par 72 with 6761 yards, no drivable par 4 holes, even for Rory (shortest one is about 360 yards, but with water in front of the green). Three par 5 holes which should be easily reachable in 2 for him, though. What would work in his favour is that the course is not very subtle. What you see is what you get, basically. No major doglegs, not many blind shots.

Funny topic as me and my Dad had this exact conversation on the 16th tee a few days ago. My answer was if it wasnt in the 50's then he would probably be disappointed.

Lets not forget, Jim Furyk has shot both a 58 and a 59 on PGA TOUR COURSES!

Your 6500 yard local track is a much much easier proposition, on their day of course they would break 60, heck I even scored 28 for 9 holes once and I suck!

It boils down to are the holing everything from 10 foot and in that day or not, if not, they are low 60s if yes they are in the 50s as your average course has around 18 birdie opportunities on it

Furyk scored 58 was on a course of 6841 yards
and 59 was on a course of 7149 yards

6500 yards designed to be fun for the ordinary guy v stopping tour players ripping it to bits is a pitch and putt, any course sub 6000 yards should not even be a debate, good round is 50s

BTW Tiger scored 57 round his home club Isleworth well over 7000 yards long

Sub 500 yard par 5s, that is a free shot in anyones language

Yes thousands and thousands of rounds a year by the very best on courses which can at times play very very easy. But they are not shooting in the 50s week in week out are they.

Yes Furyk has but how many rounds would you estimate it takes on the Pga tour to get a sub 60 round? 70 odd players a week playing 4 rounds, this happening for how many years. Don't know the exact figures but there is a tiny chance of a sub 60 round. And Tiger shot a 57 once round his home course? Great, how many times did he play it to get that 57! The chances of Rory rocking up on a 6500 yard course a shooting sub 60 is very small and you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

You obviously missed the two victories in the Fed Exp play-offs.

Only 14 players have won more majors than Rory in the history of mens golf. He is that good.

Low 60's I think. I don't think he would go 50's unless he had played it a few times. The course is good but I don't think the greens would stretch him enough to play high 60's. I know I'd love to be his caddie when he played it. It would be a joy.

Could you expand a little please ?

What are these major swing issues he has

I'm also a bit confused how he will be lost in mid pack when he is clearly up there at the top along side day etc

I've seen a 66 off our,7000 yd, blue tournament tees by a +3 capper
And a 65 off our white medal tees by a scratch player.
So I imagine Rory would beat those, 62 maybe.
