Just a guessing game really

If Rory was to rock up on a nice sunny day, with his game in good shape, what do you think he'd shoot round your course?

Ours is only 6000 yards Par 70, with some of the holes definitely driveable for him and all par 5s easily reachable I reckon he'd shoot maybe 56.

I dread to think. There's got to be many an eagle opportunity with some straight drives.
I feel confident the course record would be beaten, but not sub 60, no.
It'd be great to see someone that good take it on. :)

2 more than me...😂😂

Don't know about Rory but saw another European Tour pro demolish our 18th. 420 yards uphill, second shot was a less than full wedge to 8 feet, putt duly holed. The preceding 2 holes are a 201 yard par 3 and a 486 yard par 5. He was playing with the Captain and I jokingly said to him please tell me he hit driver up 18, because if that was a 3 wood I'm giving up. The Captain duly confirmed that it was driver, but said he'd just finished 2,3,3. 4 under for 3 holes; the par 5 is not the most difficult we have but not the easiest, the other 2 are definitely amongst our harder holes.

It's a different game.

Don't know about Rory but years ago our former member & 1973 Dutch Open champion Doug Mc.Clelland came to South Shields to play an exhibition. To finish he drove our 15th, 290 yards, 16th, 367 yards, 17th, 386 yards & 18th, 353 yards. Equipment has come on a long way since then. One of our pros, in a friendly game a few years ago, shot 59 from the yellow tees. I can't imagine what Rory would do, there would only be a couple of par fours out of reach.

Rory would comfortably shoot low 60s around my course with a 3 iron being his longest club available if the wind was down.

If the wind was up he'd probably only manage mid 60s.

It's a very different game!

Our course record is 63 by Trevor Immelman about 12 years ago. I've been told that when Bubba was here he took 5 iron to hit the green on our admittedly short (270yd) 18th.

Don't know what he would shoot nowadays but I do know that in 2006 he shot 67 nett 71 round our Old Course

No idea what his best is round The Glashedy

Just watching the golf now and they just said in 2000 Golf Digest did a study and Tiger Woods would of been of +13 Handicap that year haha.

This thread however is just making me envious of some of the courses you guys call home, and I'm not even from a dump myself!

i would have though he would rip the bejesus out of it, unlike. Phil, Nicholas Colserts JB Holms who all played it this year during the scottish open.... who didn't;)

Only just realised you mean McIlroy. Thought you meant YGT Rory... Oops!

Not being Debbie downer. But Rory isn't that good.He has length; However he has some major swing issues that need addressed.Until than he will just be lost in mid pack

Not sure.

Our course looks easy enough, and doesn't feel that hard when you play it, but for some reason no-one ever rips it up. Par 69; SSS 70; Course record 65 (l think) set by Peter Oosterhuis some while ago. Therefore I'm guessing low 60s.
