What level what a LPGA player be in the men's game?

A few thousand people worldwide!!!

Your absolutely miles off mate, quite ironic that you’ve chosen to accuse me of hyperbole.

Anyway, if there were more mixed events, do you not see that would lead to more people playing golf in mixed groups - make it more ‘acceptable’

There’s clearly an issue on that front, judging by some of the views posted on this forum.

Why does there need to be more mixed events ? For what reason exactly

And that’s at club or pro level

Why can’t there be events for men and events for women - why the need to combine the two more often - what purpose is it serving

Have you considered that there isn’t a strong enough appetite or demand for it

Interesting to note that Tennis has both Men and Women playing in their Grand Slam events - not in the same tournament but both games are showcased at the highest level. In certain events this could be a way forward.

Maybe it’s because I’ve played mixed events for years Phil, and it’s never caused any issues. So, why are people opposed to men and women playing golf with each other?

It’s not about being “opposed” to it or it causing issues

Just because you want to play mixed golf doesn’t mean there is a big desire for many others to play it and certainly not any desire to have it more at the pro level - from both the players and fans

So there’s no reason for clubs not to open comps up to men and women then? That way, people have the option to play with which gender they please.

Likewise, how can we say there’s no demand for mixed professional golf events, when there are hardly any to make that judgement on.

My wife's club organised a mixed comp recently, it got cancelled due to lack of interest FROM THE LADIES!

So, it's not just old geezers being "un-inclusive." 😉

But, in the Pro Game there's an opportunity here for doing something different, generating publicity and breaking down preconceptions about golf.

Club competitions - clubs will organise their competitions for what the majority of their membership wants , if there is a desire from a good number of the members then they will have more mixed comps

Many clubs have board comps with set rules created by the starter of the comp

Have you considered that not many ladies want to play with men within competitions

This year we had a mixed scramble and a main scramble so far

Tee times - main scramble - fully booked until after 2

Mixed - 3 teams , tee times reduced due to lack of entries

Same with the mixed foursomes at Xmas

Same with the mixed 4bbb where there is around 6 ladies entering

Widen your eyes beyond what you think the membership should want

As for the Pros - there was the 6’s tournament, bombed after a couple of years due to lack of interest from players and fans

If the Pros wanted to play more mixed comps then they would get them set up

There is clearly no desire to mix up

Phil, I’m not suggesting women want to play with men, I’m saying they should be able to play in the same comps - but they can still play with people of the same gender if they so wish. Alternatively, they could play in a mixed group.

I don’t need to broaden my horizons mate, I’ve seen both sides of the debate, and I’ve chosen which side I’d rather be on.

If we have a scramble, the vast majority of the teams will be male, some will be mixed, and there’s a possibility that one might be all female (although unlikely).

If the comp secretary suggested we should have any male only comps, the vast majority of members would quite rightly be vehemently opposed to it.

I've read lots of people claiming this on here, yet not offering any concrete proof.

I suspect if you put the best women and best men in a field it would be popular, either against each other or as a pairing.

BIB - in her chat with Iona Stephens, Bronte Law gave zero indication that she or other lady pros had any interest in playing mixed competitions, indeed the question didn’t even merit a mention. She is only interested in working towards getting top level ladies golf recognised and appreciated as a highly skilled sport in its own right.

Against each other, the women would even be a factor. They would be collectively last. They may as well not he there.

That certainly was not the impression given at the ScandinavIan Mixed event by both the men and women. Of course they were playing in a mixed event at the time, but they all expressed how interesting and useful it was to learn from how they approached tournament golf. The crowds seemed to appreciate it too.

They were paid to say that. Its like thanking the sponsors and saying you love the course.

It is true that many women at clubs don't want to play with the men. In some respects I understand that. Quite often I've found myself waiting for the guys to tee off, walk forwards to the red tees and then they wander along, clubs clanking chatting about their shot. Some even don't bother to stop walking forwards. As it can often be the way that the female plays many shots first it can become tiring and not a pleasant experience.

Of course that's not by any means all male golfers but it's happened to me enough times and I imagine the shorter hitting ladies get fed up quite quickly.

Of course there are also plenty of women who just want to play with their pals and talk all things WI and grandchildren (which I find equally uninviting)!!

Everyone is different but the main thing is that everyone should have equal opportunity and equal access and that people shouldn’t assume that certain genders only want to play on certain days at certain times.

Maybe simply as a tactic those at the top of the women’s game - pros and administrators - can use to advertise the skills they have…as part of their strategy towards what such as Bronte Law wants for her sport.

That said the England Mixed U18 Championship held at my track a few years ago proved a great watch with, in the end, two girls and two boys finishing in the top 4. A boy won it with our elite girl being pipped into 2nd place. A boy in 3rd and a girl in 4th. And I think they all enjoyed the mixed challenge and going out in mixed pairs. They are the next generation cohort of English golfers from which some will turn pro in both the men’s and ladies game.

Did they just happen to be English or was entry restricted 😅😅

Agreed, but I don't think this is the topic of the discussion
