What is your preferred layup yardage?

The only reason I would layup on any part of the course is to avoid a specific hazard.

choke down the grip on a 9I and make a smooth full swing, it works, more importantly in my head i know it works, so im confident with it, similarly , happy with 160yds out as well, same shot same scenario, just use my 23* hybrid instead

100 yards for me,I have a few clubs that go that far with various shot shapes,gap wedge,pitching wedge,soft 9 iron.

I don't really care how far back I go. All I pray is I hit the green every time and so don't ned to use that excuse of a short game I have. Think I'd almost prefer Murph's shanks than my chipping

Ive never layed up in my life. I usually take the club that will get is closest with every shot. Is laying up something i should be thinking about? I did ask myself the question the other day.

snap! I cant guarantee a perfect shot from any distance - so I play it as it lies
I'm sure once I'm much better i can think about my preferred distance for lay up - but until then i will continue to hit and hope

Not something that I really do, I tend to go for it whenever possible!

But if I was to lay up it would be 110 yards as that is a confident, full PW for me 90% of the time with no need for holding back or forcing.

Really depends what hole and the hazards of getting too close. Generally I can play a decent 52 from 60-115
Otherwise if Im on my game i like to try and get close as possible, but quite often it can back fire and I think why not have a nice easy full shot in! then the nice easy full shot is mis-hit and I wish I went for it!

Depends on the hole and what happened with my drive. On some par 5's I'm happy to be inside the 150 marker in 2 shots, on others I'd try and get as close to the flag as possible. I'm happy leaving myself anything between 150-100yds on any hole... so if I'm playing a 340yrd hole I need to hit a tee shot somewhere between 190 & 240yrds.......



.... so it's a driver every time!!! LOL
