What is the HARDEST opening hole??

Ours is a 417 yard par 4 which has just had it's index changed to 2 - was higher previously. Ditch to the front and right side of the green but the main factor is the wind direction. Have hit anything from a wedge to 3 wood when playing my second shot.

Wide fairway, but OB to the left (if your really wide) and tree down the right hand side will cause anyone who's not straight an issue. Hole is downhill so makes the 2nd shot that little bit trickier.

Wind with, and the big hitters have to drop down a club (especially in summer) otherwise they can reach the ditch.

Good hole on which to start with and will catch you out if your not warmed up properly - i get caught out most weeks! :D

Doesn't get much tougher than the opening hole at Moffat Golf Club! Which is a tough opening par 3. 199yards of carry demands a wood from many people. Out of bounds on the left, trees and bunkers to the right make this a difficult starting hole.

What's going on with the yardages there? The yellow is further away than the white :D

Medal 3 199
Gents 3 210
Ladies 3 199

Maybe to give the competition players a chance at a par

The first at Aylesbury Park is a nice one

a 385 par 4 off the yellows, SI 5

It has a brook running diagonally across from about 150 yards on the right side to 180 yards on the left.

A fairly narrow entrance to the main fairway over the brook

Therefore you really need a 200 yard carry to be safe, and be dead straight.

You have the option to bounce one off the bridge

Most players will play up, then over.

Haha i've pinged one off that bridge a few times usually when laying up....doh!
I've hit 6 iron to lay up and absolutely smoked it, a couple of bounces then into that stream!!!!

Hardest opening hole i've ever played would be the first at Batchwood Hall in St Albans, off the yellows it's about 460 yds Par 4 across a valley with a large bomb hole hazard in front of the green, off the whites about 20 yds further back it's a Par 5 and much easier!
