I wonder if he had Johnson’s mind (in a really good way) he’d have won by now? He’s been off the pace in a lot of visits but, other times, he’s been playing great

Do you mean Zack Johnson? Great wedge player with a very repeatable short swing. Always backs himself to get up and down from a hundred yards and Rory could really learn from this.

Surely you don’t mean Dustin, who has blown numerous majors and only won one (so far) compared to Rory’s four?

Personally think it’s largely down to the expectation the press and us fans put on him. Every year there’s a thread about him, every year the interviewers and commentators talk about his grand slam, how he choked in 2011 (?). So it’s a mental thing.

Undoubtedly has the game to win the masters, you don’t need to be the best at all aspects of the game to win, look at some of the past winners. Their game just came together that week they won.

So for me it’s mental, created by our expectations and of course his own expectations. He even spoke about it pre-tournament, that with the unusual circumstances this year the focus might be off him enough, but alas it’s not.
