Then signal operator on the met line
Then line information on the northern
Finally to where I am now for the past 5 years service controller on the northern line
Which is basically signal operator but with additional controlling aswell as we multi grade compared so cover everything
Only 30 more years until retirement
Was that due to the decline in textiles you decided to retrain?Started off life in Textiles - I was a Carding Engineer in a carpet yarn factory. Not many mills left nowadays, so I retrained as an electrician and now run my own business doing property maintenance.

For a second there thought you were going to tell me you joined the navy ..Born and raised on large estate so was always going into farming.
Started off as Herdsman with 100 cows then moved to dairy / arable farm to eventually become farm foreman.
Moved to Shropshire and ended up assistant manager on 1200 arable farm .
Emigrated to New Zealand for 5.5 years where I had my own lawn mowing business 3 days a week, then did same back here 2 days a week until retirement 2 years ago .
Full time golfer now
