That I'm afraid is the way many have gone, welded plastic outer drums that do not allow their seperation and thus when bearings go, or even something as much as an unremovable bra wire its invariably a new machine. However, we have oursleves to blame largely for this as the manufatcurers are all looking for ways to reduce costs as for the consumer, price is everything and quality is rarely a concern on something as mundane as a washing machine;)

When I was researching the repair for mine I came across a YouTube video where the person cut through the plastic, removed and replaced the bearing and then glued it back together.

An inverter? Wow I never knew that, not that I read up on washing machine motors 🤣
Got fed up of changing bushes and the machine falling to bits. Spoke to me washing repair man and he said Inverter motors are the way to go.
Lad has bought one and it is Bluetooth 😳

Theres many a stupid thing on YouTube.
I dont know how he glued it back, but theres no -one in the trade that would risk the insurance claim for the damage done when it goes wrong and floods the place, and if a flat, everyone below them;)

it seems cheaper than £549, I paid at Mark electricals.. but my deal includes fitting new and recycling the old one. Costco will charge another £34 for fitting and recycling. So all in for about £475

Good shout.

It’s worth becoming a member for the £25 I think it is.
Wasnt it about 50 odd quid. I may be in the market for a telly around Christmas, so might become a member if 25.

My biggest gripe with Costco is that whenever I go there, the Mrs runs up a bill of 200-250 quid, even if i had just dropped by to get a hot dog. Its a money pit.

Maybe the issue is the wife, not the store?

Membership for me and my other half is £33.60. But I agree about it being a money pit if you're not careful.
Take your calculater and add it up as you go along so you don't get a shock at the till.
They do some brilliant deals though, if you are patient and wait till what you want comes through.
Some of their TV deals are excellent. And you get a good guarantee.

@Bunkermagnet .. sligthly different Q.... looking at dishwasher for the new kitchen in a couple of months. How is Smeg. I have seen smeg retro fridges, but always walked past it. I think they look good, but we preferred functionality of others. Also they are generally expensive
Now have run into them in dishwashers. Are they any good? I was surprised to see Smeg cheaper than Neff & Siemens.

Looking at this one >> https://ao.com/product/di324aq-smeg-standard-dishwasher-silver-97323-23.aspx

It might be up against Neff >> https://ao.com/product/s187zcx03g-neff-n70-standard-dishwasher-stainless-steel-100443-23.aspx

The DW is heavily used.. sometimes twice a day. So energy efficiency is important

OK SO....
Howw high (floor to worktop underside or anything above the dishwasher thats fixed) the dishwasher is going in?
How high is the decor door that matches your kitchen?
How hard is your water?
The more energy efficient a program, the longer it iwll take. I ifnd people will not use the mnost energy efficient programs as they take too long.
I would not have anything Smeg. The service back up and spares availabulity can be "interesting" shall we say.

I would suggest Bosch, Neff or Siemens (thay are all under the BSH group) would be my suggestion, but the full stainless steel cabinet ones.
But before you choose anything, you do need those measurements they are essential to choosing a dishwasher that will fit and take your decor door comfortably. Get it wrong and the dishwasher either wont go in the hole, need loads of juggling and look ugly to go in the hole, take the decor door or not.

It is going next to the sink, and will only have a worktop on top of it. Not part of a tall unit. The kitchen is not built yet but all of them seem to be same size. Plinth about 100mm

We r in a hard water area but many years ago we invested in a Harvey water softener (which is brilliant) .. since then have never added any salt into the DW

Will rule out smeg on your advice. Also wanted to rule out DW with auto dosing functions which measure how much soap to release eg Siemens iq500.. I just want a ‘regular’ DW. Also not keen on wifi ones but looks like all the higher BSH ones now use wifi. Will check the cutlery trays (but they don’t put that in the description)

Re dishwasher salt my Miele still has to have it added as per the instructions.

So are you talking about a freestanding dishwasher, or one built into a hole and taking a decor door yo match the other unit doors?
I'm not aware of Siemens doing an auto dosing dishwasher, only Miele have that.

Fully integrated one.. fits into the hole. Siemens iq500 and 700 seem to do it.
