At what number are they the same?

My playing hcp can vary widely, 2 - 8 on courses I have played this year.
With the old system, the lowest I ever got to was 5.2. With WHS, I briefly got to 3.5 last year.

I don't think you can ever say that are the same at any given number as the method of calculation is so different.
It would also depend quite a lot on the course you played.
But my overall impression is that the low to mid teens was the area where fewest people got moved up or down
I claim no expertise though.

Some things really irk me about the new system. Playing at South Cliff recently with lads, using course hcp off yellows.
Me 5.3 - played off 5
Mate - 9.1 - 9
Mate - 40.2 - 45 course hcp.

Boy off 40 (45) won by 7 shots.

Might seem a stupid question, but it is not my question but something some of the lads said in the fuddle yesterday. And it made me smile.

Am busting a gut to get my handicap down and currently stand at WHS 18.9. However when I mentioned that to the lads, some of the lads said “that’s not your handicap you get 22 shots at Norwood off the whites”.( 19 off yellows).

So seeing as most folk play there golf “ At home/ there home course” what is your handicap.

I know the handicap has changed, but sometimes I think some folk are stuck in the old ways and cannot move forward.

Thoughts please me ducks. Preferably before Monday

You get 22 shots ( or 19) because your handicap is 18.9. Just tell them this and walk away chuckling

Standing on the 1st tee in a medal I'm 12
If we're off the blues I'm a 9

Assuming the person is asking out of curiosity, under the UHS did you answer x.3, x.7 etc or did you answer x. ?

I virtually always answer as the nearest whole number to my H.I..

I just say my index (6.8) and hope I don't have to explain it!
I can be anything from 10 to 5 depending on course and tees, so it's just ridiculous.
