Hello good forum geezers,I have wondered for ages, what does the number on a golf ball actually represent? Anything?
:D

Basically there are four categories:

1s are the roundest balls you can get

2s are the whitest

3s are slightly bigger than normal

The higher numbers increase the distance they travel off line.

Bugger.....I thought it was so you could hit them in the right order.

:( ;)

Nah - just lose them in the right order!

At the 1st tee, before it is decided who goes first,a guy at my club always puts a ball in a clenched fist, then holds it out and asks 'titleist 2 odd or even'? :D :D

There's a reason for everything in this world, some obvious and some less so.
Avoid no.4s for medal rounds and no.1s on the opening day of a major. Opt for no.3s when playing anyone in matchplay who's not using a yellow ball unless it's a no.2.

Simples. :)
