We moved into our first house last year and our en-suite was usable but in need of some TLC. So I decided with the agreement from Mrs169 that I would fix it up.. I'm not DIY person, I fix servers and global networks.. I bought my first drill because it looked cool.

Its been kind of a slow burner, as we have a main bathroom and downstairs loo there was no rush.. First I went straight in ripped out the bathroom units, toilet, shower, etc, followed by tiles and plasterboard, that bit was easy. Then I planned the new layout and purchased the new equipment, bigger and better shower and toilet/basin suite. I've been doing it with my dad, but hes busy fixing up his and mums house so its only a couple of hours here or there... I'm not confident or good enough to do anything on my own!

So the latest, after about 9 months is we have some plasterboard up and have done some piping.. Still lots to do..

What projects are you working on? I've seen Rick and Rooter are doing some projects, anyone else?

I'll try and find some pics of my progress to set the scene..

will reply in full later, but as per phils comment, I am converting 60% of my garage to be a home office/utility room. And its almost done!! The plasterer finished yesterday, so just waiting for that to dry before paint and flooring! Full pics from the start later! But safe to say, i am impressed with my DIY skills!!

Easy one for me.

Never have and, at 65, never will get involved with DIY.

Firmly believe that it is the duty of the rest of us to pay the skilled tradesmen to undertake these tasks.

Building a shed, fence is finished, gazebo and pergola still to finish, raised bed nearly done, patio to lay, new bathroom to fit, new kitchen to fit, have partitioned off a section of one bedroom to create either storage or a place to access the loft for the 'conversion' I'm doing up there. Need to build a porch on the front of the house, want to take the chimney down so I can properly fit a kingsize bed in the master bedroom (which needs decorating), kids bedrooms need finishing, hall/stairs/landing need decorating - should keep me busy for a few weeks

Currently on with extending the horses stable as the Mrs is talking of getting another one.
hopefully get it finished this wk end.

So as per my quick reply, been working on a garage conversion. Use will be Utility/Office. Not bad workmanship for a soft handed office monkey with little DIY experience!

Before pics show why it needed doing! I actually worked in here for a time, but winter rules that out!!

Few runs to the tip, a car boot sale soon cleared it up a bit!

First job was a raised floor with polystyrene insulation:

Then yesterday it was plastered, its currently drying out as we speak! So next weekend i will paint it, then lay a laminate floor, Skirting boards and i'm done!! Build a new desk from my old one, and check out my desk plug with 2 x 5v USB ports!

Please, please, please make sure the plaster has really dried out!
A mate of mine has just redone a 2 bed cottage & mist-coated the whole place too early! He's having to do the whole lot again and also has to repair areas where the plaster has 'blown' due to being sealed by the paint whilst still damp!

Oh, and it's looking good mate .

Slime.

Don't worry! Will have a good week to dry, gentle heat and ventilation in there so should be ok. My plasterer also read me the riot act so I don't use cheap paint!
