What is the better method of getting out of greenside bunkers where the sand is compacted and or damp ?

Should i change from my SW to a low balance LW instead ?

Any changes to standard setup ?

This problem cost my at least 6 shots today

I played in similar conditions today and had success by just playing them as chip shots, taking minimal sand, with a 50 degree wedge.

You should still be able to bounce the sand out but will have to hit it harder. Not a shot for the faint hearted though.

Another method is to make a committed shot with a lob wedge swinging directly along the line to the pin and taking the sand an inch behind the ball with no shaft lean at impact (Hinge and Hold) Both need a bit of practice.

PS:
Dont even think of turning the face over through impact.
