Everyone been having fun playing golf in the wind today? We had a comp at Royal Ascot today and it wasn't much fun. I knew it would be interesting when my 18" putt on the 4th was blown offline, missed the hole by 2" and ended up 4 feet away (not even I'm that bad at putting :D) However, when I hit 3-wood into the teeth of the wind at 11 which was playing 185yds I thought I'd get it further than the bunker 25yds short of the flag! On 17 which was playing 227 yds with wind off the right slightly helping I hit the same 3-wood through the green - stupid weather.

It wasn't my finest or most enjoyable days golf but 29 points wasn't bad considering I had 5 blobs.

Just a bit breezy at our place. :()

Did manage to come from 3 down to win again for the second week, and take the money. Won the 17th with a two, and the 18th with a par. First time i have ever won a hole when the other three players all hit their approaches into the green ob and into the car park !

Very windy at ours and I'm not much of a lump for it to knock off balance

Played a yellowball comp. One guy wanted us to have the ball in handicap order but I talked him out of it into working it out so people got shots when they had the ball.

High guy has it on out SI14 hole 1 and holes his 2nd shot for an eagle with a shot and the yellow ball for 10pts. Nice.

I've heard that 169 won it and we had 161 but with 90 on the front 9.

Considering the conditions was very happy with my own 37pts. :)

I played the same comp as Mike although he did slightly better than my 27 points. To be honest I was quite pleased with that tally as I was swinging the club terribly without the wind to contend with. Too many unforced errors especially around the greens (again) and 37 putts.

Even when I did hit some good shots like hitting the 425 yard 16th with 3 wood and 6 iron I three putted. I took 6 iron into the short 8th (134 yards today) and it stalled in the wind and came up short. The 9th was brutal. A good drive and a 5 wood and still had a full wedge into a hole that is only 400 yards. I didn't mind the downwind/into holes but some of the shots in cross winds were getting blow 20 yards in the air. At lease I didn't miss a putt as short as his.

Monthly Medal for us, the gale eased overnight and the forecasted monsoon only arrived about 10 minutes after we had walked off the course and it's not stopped since!

Had another desperately poor start, double, double, triple, double :o

Recovered a bit to card an 88.

ah well! There's always next month lol

Was that windy or not? but what a day. Pairs Winter knockout
After topping my drive :). Dont know what my partner was doing :D didn't see him until I got the green and he tells me his out of it.

Any way my partner wins the 3rd, :) and I win the 4th 195 yard
after taking a 6 iron, and probably would have gone through the green if it hadn't caught the bunker . I hit a 3 wood, 4 iron to finish 20 yards short of our 462 yard 5th . I also win the 7th and our 8th is our longest hole, 579 yards. 3 wood into the rough, a 4iron leaves me 150 yards and a 9 iron puts through the back, crazy conditions.
We go 4up after 8 but lose the 9th, my stableford score at this stage is 20 points
My partner finally fines his game and a par 5 on our difficult 14th is good enough. :D
I want to take a 6 iron :D to our 184 yard island hole 15th but end up taking the 5iron only to see it fly onto the green and bounce through, I'm lucky that it falls short of the stream, but with everyone else struggling a chip and 2 putts puts us 2up. We lose to an excellent par 4 on the 16th.
We all get a stroke of my partner on our very difficuly 437 yard (SI3) 17th, with a big pond in front of the green, our opponets and myself hit good drives well short of the ditch which would be in play for us, but my partner leaks one right over the ditch never to been seen again . All 3 of us decide to play short of the pond, and my chip from 123 yards to 10 feet :) puts the pressure on the other two who make mistakes. I confirm I have two strokes to win the hole and the match, and have no problem in taking them. :) :)

So a 2 and 1 win and into the next round, at this point I have 33 points after 17 holes and feel that I have played really well, especially in the conditions, as us high h/c (25) dont like the wind. ;)

played my 1st round in it yesterday and tbh it wasnt too bad, maybe caused a couple of shots to drop short but apart from a couple of holes where it was really gusting it didnt play too badly

I was expecting a windy day today considering how the weather's been, but not really a wind at all here in Nairn.

To top it all, I played a cracking game. Wasn't scoring as on winter greens, but I felt I hit some superb shots. :D

Played in monthly medal nightmare score, par 3 225 yds driver about 50 yards short, par 5 608yds driver 3 3 woods still 60 yards short. As always some one come4s in with a stuipd score gross 89 playing off 28 nett 61!!!! think they will be looking at his handicap
