I've been looking around for a weighted training club for warming up before rounds/improving the golfing muscles, and stumbled across one of these SKLZ Power Sleeves:

SKLZ Power Sleeve

Has anyone used one of these before? Do they provide enough extra weight? Would I be better off using a weighted club? Maybe Hapless would be the man to answer this....

Thanks

David Duval started recommending a weighted club just before his fall from grace as World Number 1 golfer!
Nuff said!
One of the books I've read (Golf Rx) actually suggests using a lighter club to swing as quick as you can as this will help get swing speed up.

As you'd come to expect from me. I'll tell it how it is!

I have one in my bag. I try to evaluate as many products as I can, and I've also had the club Pro take a gander for suitability of products, which is how the PDF matrix came about.

Anyway back to the Power Sleeve.

What's it's done for me is slow down my snatchy take away and down swing. This has been good because it's helped my ball striking accuracy and has stopped (or at least) has made me think about my swing tempo on the course. I've learnt that more swing speed does not mean more distance, well not in my case! Because of this, my FIR and GIR have improved.

Using two clubs to warm up with is a very acceptable practice as a pre-round warm up. Though you obviously cannot hit a ball! The sleeve will also fit any club.

What surprised me, is that when you take the sleeve off, the club feels incredibly light, (that's not the surprise!). Is that I found my distances per club increased. Whether this is because I'm finding the sweetspot more, or finding that I'm able to control the swing more, I'm not sure. But the results pleased me.

The disadvantage, like with any weighted club, or two club swing, is that you can do yourself an injury if over used. Therefore it is always worth warming up properly before using it.

Mine permanantly lives in my bag.

Training aids aren't for everyone, and I know that us reserved Brits feel very self concious using them. However, if the results work, I can't knock it.

I hope that helps.
