VVD ................... well done, nice touch.

Sometimes maybe it’s just not the right thing to post something that’s a waste of time.

The German official had just lost a parent and an opposition player was comforting him - in a very cynical world and a sport that is all about money sometimes it’s nice to see a human side to it.

You just made yourself look at bit of a plank.

You just made yourself look even more of a plank.

Fixed that for you Phil. (y)

Saw this earlier on social medial and thought it was a marvellous touch, especially given the frenetic finish to the game with the Dutch coming back to steal a draw. Good to see the human touch hasn't gone from the game

It’s sad that you all buy what the media push into you at times.

If VVD actually cared he could’ve done something more private. But instead he waits for the cameras and makes his move.

Think he’d have done it if they’d just conceded a last minute goal to lose? Not a chance.

It’s sad that you look at any human action that happens like that and think it’s just purely for the cameras - quite pathetic really , Must be a sad life to always think the worst.

VVD I have no doubt just saw him after what happened and gave him a consoling hug without even giving two hoots if the cameras where there or not. Unless of course you can find some proof that VVD waited for a camera to make his move and it’s not actually the first time he has seen him

Is your world that bad that any act of kindness or compassion or comfort is classed as a cynical act looking for some PR angle or are you just attempting to be controversial for the kicks

You need to grow a lot

Did you actually read how it came about or is it once again you looking for a reaction.

The Romanian official had recently lost his mother and had decided to carry on officiating.
After the match Van Dijk went to shake his hand (as per normal) and saw the guy was visibly upset so he gave him a hug. Simple act of human kindness.
Not everything in life is a conspiracy.

I was thinking this to be honest. Yeah he said some nice words, but the way people have pushed this story, you'd think footballers were robots incapable of normal human empathy. I'm sure countless other people who weren't footballers said nice things to this man as well.

The difference is someone believing Van Dijk did it as a pr stunt and not the media pushing the story. 22 players on that pitch at the end, would you prefer the media headline was about 21 heartless prima donna’s ignoring a man who was upset?

Oh I wouldn't say he did it just for PR. I'm just saying we don't all need to stop what we're doing and give a round of applause just because a man showed normal human decency. Just because he's a footballer.

It's like that old Chris Rock comedy routine about 'certain people' expecting credit for things they're meant to do anyway. "Well I take care of my kids." "Yeah - you're supposed to!"

Hang on a minute, Slime posted the thread and gave it a simple thumbs up, who then comes along and turns it into something else and a decent thread turns sour.
People are quick to post bad news about other clubs, this one is harmless, no one forced posters to read it or to raise Van Dijk up on a pedestal.
What’s the old saying, “if you’ve got nothing nice to say.....etc

If those moaning cannot see he showed genuine compassion to someone who had lost his mother in the build up to the game (so assume less than 3 hrs ago), then all I can say is it is no wonder society is going down the pan.
I know what I was like when I lost my mother 18 months ago. I hope those dissing it are just as cold hearted when their mother passes.

Seeing through a PR stunt means I see the bad in everything. There’s nothing like exaggerating your point to gain leverage, eh?!

Quick let’s all send Orikoru hate mail.

Ugh.

Or? Quick let’s all watch a woman in a wheelchair get attacked and then post how we did nothing about it on an internet forum! :poop:
Maybe you can find out who her attackers where and send them hate mail.

I don’t think we need to exaggerate- your posting sums it all up

VVD showed a bit of compassion towards someone who just lost a parent

You then just accused him of doing a PR stunt

So it was either

1. Just you being you
2. Attempting to be controversial
3. Putting in a little dig because he plays for Liverpool
4. Just plain old trolling

Or possibly a combination of all them

Either way I think you posted without giving a thought to the situation
