Vokey's or MD Seve Grinds or Srixon WG-706?

I have decided to buy some new wedges (or more like one a month) but am struggling on what to get. I love the look of the MD Seve grind but the price is high + I will need to get a couple of tapes added and the grips changed to Multi comp costing an extra £8 or so and the total is high for an MD wedge or I can buy a 09 Vokey with the same shafts as my irons and have the tapes and grips added for £90 per club. The cheaper option is to buy a matching Srixon WG-706 for £45 each and get the tape and grips added extra, I do like the one I have but they are heavy and a couple of years old... I just can not decide..

Do they have to be the 09 md wedges i posted on some other thread where the guy customes fits the grip and choice of shaft for the retail price he dose it with the Seve wedges as well so no extra costs.

Vokeys are too heavey for me, or they dont feel right for my game. I picked up the new Seve wedges in a pro shop last week down at Gourock and they just didnt tick the right boxes for me, so be process of elimination I would go for the Srixon as I have liked them in the past.

Have you looked at the Ping Tour W or even the new Snake Eyes ones, they are both sexy beasts!!!

Yeah Mike, he charges £69.99 inc free p+p and will add the tapes but only offers UST Multi comp not Golf Pride ones, also his Grind ones are Nickle and I wanted the chrome ones. I have the Cobalt 2007 and like it but just wanted something a little sexy for the bag.

I have the vokeys, and prefer them to the Ping Tour W's I used to have, and I'm definitely a Ping man.

Can't comment on the MD or Srixons, but I love my vokeys. Try them all if you can before you buy is my best advice.

Cant comment on the other 2 but its Vokeys for me any day . Have had the Pings before, nice clubs but prefer the Vokeys .

Vokeys everytime for me, they just work, no gimmicks do exactly what they are supposed to, and are a really nice weight.

Vokeys are a great club but why not look at other option like the TM RAC or Cally X series. Persoanlly I'd have to try the options you specified first before I could give you an honest opinion

Gone for the Srixon 56* and keeping the Cobalt 60*. Get the grips changed and tapes added in a couple of weeks, thanks for the advance chaps.

Hi Parmo,not sure whether or not you have purchased your wedge yet or will be shortly but i have just got my hands on a cleveland cg12 and its fantastic,have tried alot of the big name wedges but this is by far the best,i get fantastic bite and spin around the greens so just another option if you haven't purchased.cheers mate.

I love my Vokeys but they do tear ProV's to shreds after a few hits.

Would consider Mizuno wedges also, they are awesome.

Yeah I decided with the Srixon for £45 inc p+p as it means I don't have to replace the GW I have and I know its a decent piece of kit. If I had the cash I would of gone for the Vokey with the Nippon Pro 970 shaft with red/blk multi comp grip, but £91 per wedge is pushing HID's.

Not tried the Srixon Wedges, but can imagine they might be okay.

I love my MD NV Drew. But it is a lot cheaper than the Seve grind wedge. I do think that at the price of the mew Seve wedge I wuld really need totry & think harder about the choice, as I've used Titleist Vokeys in the past & found the weight & balance to be extemely re-assuring.

I'm sure The Cleveland & Callaway wedges are a good alternative to Vokey too. I really like my Ping Irons & could certainly imagine myself using the Ping TourW wedge.

The Seve wedge would need to be very special to warrent the expense & I would expect a decent fitting session with certain grip & shaft options included. I'd have probably have said if price is an issue then go for the Superstrong ot NVDrew instead of the Seve. Thing is I do know you had set your heart on trying the new Seve wedge, so anything else is not going to cut the mustard within the range, unless you can actually try that wedge out.

btw I answered in this instance for the Vokey, as the Seve is too expensive considering other MD's are half that price & I've not tried the Srixon WG706, though I might be curious enough to try one, for when finances improve.

Yeah I agree, went to Greg Nicholson's as they only place that had the chrome ones and found them £61.45 + £7 p+p but they somehow managed to charge £71.99!! Cancelled the order about 30 minutes later once I found out they had over charged me and would take over a week to deliver.

I would of thought about the Drew wedges but playing a park land course they would be of little use in winter. I do love my 60* but thought I know how the Srixon is proforming at the moment and its been good so might as well buy a 56* and keep the 60* so least have two matching wedges.

£72 isn't too bad all things considered, but still when you compare the prices you might pay for equivelent wedges I'd really want to be even more blown away with the Seve as I was with the NV Drew.

Good point about the NV Drew wedges, as they have very low bounce, even less than a 4 degree vokey. I know I've got Both the Vokey 60 degree & NV Drew 60 degree. Branston tends to play quite firm & has one or two links like atributes due to its sand & gravel subsurface & the thin firm soil. But I've played quite a viriety of courses over the past few years & know where you are comming from with your concerns.

For people who prefer a bit more bounce & who play a lot of soft parkland the standard Superstrong is certainly an option. But with the Srixon being the price it is, I can see how that has been an obvious option for you.

I quite like low bounce wedges,I always feel a bit more confident with them, but apreciate everyone is different. Though I don't know whitch camp you are in re: the bounce issue.
