market has gone nuts. My car has gone up £1100 in 5 days and 5k from the low just over a year ago - on we buy any car. Because Amanda just mentioned Motorway i am looking on there now and it seems another 1k on to WBAC. I think i am going to sell - time to take pictures when golf is finished later!

My MX5 has gone up £1800 according to We Buy and Motorway. Happy enough with what we got in p/ex for the BMW which I love, love, love :)

On another note. Bought a California Duster a few months back and never had the chance to use it as our cars have been wet and dirty, not dusty. Finally used it for the first time yesterday and it's brilliant - does a great job at lifting the dust off a dry, clean car.

thanks Amanda. I never looked at Motorway - but just sold through them and Sytner Cardiff will be collecting (and paying hopefully!) next week - price was 2k better than WBAC

Good news. I didn't use them but all contact was really good so it's good to hear they come through! For me the p/ex was just more convenient.

Nice to see the market staying strong, needs to hold on until sept, my new cars build date has been delayed by VW twice now.

i just checked the WBAC and mine went down £200. As soon as the new car supply calms it will help restore normal markets. I reckon prices are now markedly over-valued but is driven by market forces. I spoke to my mate who is a sales director at a decnt sized business in shropshire and he spoke about the bun fights for cars in the trade - garages need stock and bids are sometimes going crazy. He said a volvo garage nearby paid 10k over cap clean for an XC90!

I'm in the market currently. Seen one. BUT. £7K for a 2011 Toyota? Even with it's very low mileage. No chance. It's bonkers out there.

I'm always keeping an eye out, not overly happy with my current car, and I haven't seen any sort of correction in pricing yet. I'm not sure it's going to happen now. Maybe this is how it is now, unfortunately.

Also your car should be worth more in theory no?

I paid £15250 for the Alhambra in 2020 just as lockdown hit

Sold it last week for £10000 with a sunroof fault that would have meant I could have fetched £12000

That's remarkably strong value holding for a car that's 8 years old with 75000 miles on the clock no?

It doesn't quite work as neatly as that as the dealer has to factor in their profit margin. I also wonder if your car has held it's value so well as they are no longer made. If someone wants a people carrier still, great cars for bigger families, then the available pool is smaller.

It's also ulez friendly which helps

I don't think the not being made does much tbh because it's a vw Sharon with a different badge, their still being made

I put the details of my nearly 8-year old VW Golf R into WBAC recently. I kept declining the offer which increased by £2000 over the following month.
It's still a seller's market, it appears.

I didn't realise anyone was still making that type of car anymore. I don't recall seeing any newer ones. Most mfrs have dumped that style and gone to the SUV style of car now. It's still a reducing pool though in terms of second hand. If there used to be new Alhambra's, Espace and Sharon, now there are only Sharon coming into the market. That's a dwindling supply.

Golf's are highly desirable. I fancy one next so have been tracking their prices for a while. You don't get a bargain with a Golf when it comes to buying.

The Sharan was discontinued in 2022. Currently the only MPV available from VW is the Touran (but by all accounts that is going to be replaced next cycle by the Multivan).
