Well I've backed him again after swerving him at the PGA, so I wouldn't be surprised if he started making stupid mistakes like that.

Looks like he was on the walkway where he could take relief if he wanted to do - caddy picked the ball up which made the choice clear

I've put the Shep Kiss of Death on this motley crew: Corey Conners, Collin Morikawa, Aaron Rai, Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka. Picked them all because they're relatively straight off the tee (and Lowry came second last time it was at Oakmont).
£6 on each to finish in the top 20 so I won't be retiring on the winnings!

I'm 99% sure you only have to mark the ball when picking up the ball in a situation where it has to be replaced in the same spot.
