US OPEN 2021

I'm hoping for a slog fest this one week of the year. I love the attrition and pro's racking up an 8 on a par 4 because they missed on the wrong side. There are 50 weeks on the PGA tour where the guys can get away with murder and still have a chance.

I've come around to this, didn't like to see it previously, but if they play wild or bad shots, there should be consequences. What I don't like though is the tricking up on the greens, whereby good shots into the greens get punished.

Surprised no one's mentioned Rafa yet, great bogey free round yesterday, some good golf from the Molinari brothers too, and Rory under par in the first round

They keep saying how Rafa's chipping isn't the strongest part of his game but, from the bits I saw, it was incredible. They do tend to stick with generalisations eg Westwood's chipping rather than accepting that a player has sorted things out

I just wish they would talk more about the different types of grass they have on the courses on the west coast of the US. There are rumours it can affect both putting and chipping...

If you can get close from the green surrounds rough ,there’s nothing wrong with your chipping!

In case anyone isn't aware, from about now (1530) two featured groups are available to watch on the USGA website - Brysons is the first, Rory/DJ/Rose is the second.
For those with access to the US via a VPN, full coverage is available via Peacock, Golf channel and NBC depending on the time of day.
Both (I hope) are McGinley free zones!

Has a Southampton fan ever led the US Open before? Don’t think Chris Packham, Rishi Sunak, Craig David or Lucy Pinder have managed it

They haven't got time for that and mentioning that Tiger beat Rocco Mediate in a play off in 2008.
