SO what is it that makes some golf clubs ugly and some look "classic" ?

Which clubs of current and past fit into these descriptors.

I've always liked the traditional Hogan APEX blades, but my first full set were a set of Pin Eye2 copies which i also felt quite attached to.

Which of your old sets do you still have a soft spot for ?

My TopFlite Tour irons from the mid-90's.
Cracking looking set to me and used by the likes of Peter Baker and Ronan Rafferty on Tour.
Saw some in AG the other week and if they'd had stiff shafts instead of regular I'd have bought 'em at £35!!

Not been playing long enough to have played any classic clubs. Now if you are talking about clubs you regret getting rid of then it has to be my Orka irons, they were great, my game was awful, I blamed the clubs and have regretted it ever since.

Not sure, I like to keep things simple.

Anything else is just a distraction...

Like a white headed hybrid.....? :D

Yup, its clean and simple. Its not a funny shape or has lumps and bits sticking out or is too big or too deep.

My irons are clean and simple, so is my putter and driver+shaft.

Prettiest, my mc Gregor 1025m's, as beautiful as a set of blades can be.

Ugliest? I don't do ugly clubs, but probably my cally big Bertha golds. Beryllium copper heads, which was nice, and unusual, but big and ugly I guess.

My big berthas are far from the prettiest clubs but I've never hit the ball so well. As long as I'm hitting the ball well I couldn't really care what they looked like.

To me the worst looking would be the Ping Zing 2's, fugliest looking irons I have ever seen

The best I think are any of teh Mizuno blades, all nice and shiny, small heads and minimal logos

I love Blades and have used little else all my golfing life but some of these clubs mentioned here are Classics in their own right.

Ping Zing 2
Cleveland VAS
Big Bertha (X10?)

I have long irons in all these and do look out for cheap set of them every now and then. The Gold Big Berthas are classics in my book.

I agree with Imurg about the Top Filte Tours, lovely clubs. Except the 9 iron, that one never felt or sat right but I guess after 20 sockets in a row that club might never look right again!

You want ugly ...

Try some of these modern things - AP1's, Burner 2.0's, Machspeed, Slingshot.

And the Cleveland VAS are a beauty to behold next to these

The VAS, Zings and X10's won some big stuff if I remember rightly, in the right hands of course.

I had Ping Zing 2's and Mizuno TP-9's at the same time.......the Pings stayed in the bag, the TP-9's were nice to look at. Here endeth the lesson :D
