TV Series - What Are You Watching?

Stumbled across Bronowski’s The Ascent of Man (1973) on iPlayer, and 20mins in I’m utterly engaged and hooked. I remember it first being shown back then, and though I think I might have watched some of it I don’t recall watching it through.

Have been really enjoying this Taskmaster series, it's a great line-up that seems to get better with every episode. Just watched last Thursday's one last night, and it was hilarious.

Poker Face. Not heard of it before but sky were plugging the new series heavily so thought I would give it a go. Basically a younger, edgier more hip Murder She Wrote 🤣. Crime every, week solved by the protagonist who can tell if people are lying. Light, harmless viewing, ok.

I don't remember Angela Lansbury being quite as irritating as the lead in Poker Face. I found her unwatchable, a shame as the concept is good.

Just finished MAFS Australia 2025. 38 episodes and what a hoot.

Aussies are great fun when they are trying to be serious - the complete lack of self-awareness so many of the ‘contestants’ seem to possess makes for sometimes hilarious and sometimes cringing TV. Of course it is nonsense…but there is room for nonsense and pointless in my TV watching and I can’t be bothered with ‘crime’ and ‘violence’ TV - of which there seems to be an endless supply.

The UK version of it is less fun, probably because I recognise too much that I don’t like of UK present day society in those taking part.

Anyway…I’m up and running with The Ascent of Man 👍

Watched the first episode of Dept Q last night, looks good and from a few mentions on here I'll continue, but the main character really grated on me. Maverick cop has been done so many times.
