Truth or Spiel

I think it depends on your interpretation of things.

Ignoring prototypes, the pros clubs are the same models you can buy, but with some modifications, such as different shafts, weight adjustments, different grinds and certainly very tight quality control - Think hand picked heads, to get a better match and true loft measured.

So effectively these are the same clubs, but built to tighter tolerances.

I think this about hits the money.....

It's a bit like saying a set of custom fitted irons are not the same as the same model sitting on the shelf in the shop...Pros have a 'custom fit' almost every week, some of them go through clubs like sweets until they find the right ones....

Surefire, that explanation sounds just like Triggers Brush.5 heads,6 handles, but its the same brush. How can you say they are the same clubs if all the spec is different..

:D Like the reference!

Well I did say it depends on interpretation.

However you could get the same clubs if you bought them from a fitter who followed the same process.

If you just pick them 'as is' off the rack, or 'custom fit' from a big box store, then no, they are not the same.

It makes no financial sense to produce different clubs for pros and the public.

Also, they develop the clubs with the help of the pro (presumably making them better) so why would they then go back to an inferior product for the public.

Luke Donald, on a Youtube video, says his clubs are exactly the same as you'd buy in a golf shop, including S300 shafts (disregarding quality levels as said above), and he's much too nice to lie ;)
