You could say that Wilson did that to me but I went into the deal with my eyes open. Knew exactly what I was getting & couldn't be more pleased.
Thing is a lot of people don't go to try clubs and get told this iron is going 5/10 yards further than what they have without knowing the shafts are longer and they have stronger lofts, so there is a reason their new 4 iron goes further than the old one....;)

Then they get what they deserve!
I disagree totally. Many don't want to or even know that testing a club for many is a vital part of the purchasing process or simply want a bargain and so pick up sets 2nd hand. I have even had experiences where I've gone to a well known store on their simulator and know that the settings have been cranked to make my shots longer as they bore no resemblance to distances I knew I hit.

so its OK to mislead them then?
People need to do some research before they go looking for new clubs. It's naive to think you'll get accurate & unbiased advice from someone like American Golf

But for many new to the game that's all their know and be led but the sales team. How do you get around that? Newbies and even those that have played for a while simply want to go and try the latest stuff

There are magazines to read, friends to ask for recommendations. Otherwise they lay themselves open to being sold the wrong stuff.

Agreed. I’m new to golf, but that doesn’t make me stupid. I’d depend on AG for golf about as much as I’d depend on Curry’s when buying a laptop.

There’s loads of good info out there that’s easier to access now than it ever has been.
