Where do you play Nashy? I live in Warrington but play mostly in Knutsford at High Legh. Im in the navy so dont get to play as much as id like

I play at Crewe GC, I actually play less since I got med discharged than what I did when I was in the RAF. Bloody Civie street and no time off for sport. We will have to sort a game out if the weather gets any better.

I was facing a med discharge last year managed to stay in though with a couple of months to spare. Reason i took up golf last year was because i got a cushy job working for an ex sailor in the dockyard who played golf for 40 years so got loads of time off. Since going back on the ships I get less time.

Judging by most peoples comments on here I think I might treat myself to a trolley. I'm lazy so what the hey!!

I could be the youngest trolley user on here, at 21!

My reasons are that I tend to carry loads of rubbish with me when playing! I usually take a few bottles of pop, which adds to the weight, so hence I purchased a trolley to save my shoulders for the latter holes ;)

4- Half decent trolleys e.g. Masters 3 series can be bought for the same price as a box of Pro V1s. Not having it!
5- Fair enough. I understand that most carriers get the bus to their golf club.
6- Why?

Can't afford Pro V1s either. Would I keep a trolley in the car 24/7? No, that doesn't work.

Why don't I want a trolley? It's a choice. I don't want/need/can't afford one so have no interest in getting one. Happy with your trolley? Good for you and best of luck to you sir. I shall keep carrying.

Get a grip man and carry them! I'm 29 and will not be pushing or pulling a trolley for fear of looking like an old woman.
I'm an old woman - and was absolutely delighted to be reunited with my Speedcart trolley last Sunday after carrying since October. It even had a wee service from the old man. I hate using it in the winter, cos the wheels get too disgusting and muddy, and I find its quicker to carry and walk (and keeps me warmer).

the benefits of the trolley:
I can carry all my outfits - waterproofs, hats, sunnies
great for all the tablets us old ladies need to take
can fit loads of food and water in the bag and dont need to lug it round
can carry a couple of dozen balls (in winter i wont carry any more than 5 balls - so if i run out i have to find one in the rough or beg my playing partners for a ball)

get one!

I actually enjoy carrying but I also enjoy weight lifting so carrying the bag doesn't really affect me at all. Other benefits include not having to walk all the way around greens to put your trolley in a easy access position for finishing the hole, quicker loading of the car to and from the course, less mess in the car, trolley bans and probably more but I'm too tired to think now... zzzzzz

Can't see me going back to a trolley for a long, long time

Trolley every time , don't be a hero save your back for when your older. You'll end up like Quasimodo carrying a full set of clubs -12 bottles millers, packed lunch , flask of tea, waterproofs extra clothes , brolly, a cuddly, toy plus the extra balls your going to need after the millers .

A lot depends on your course too, if it has hills makes a difference.

I have an electric trolley (Go kart) but to be honest i prefer carrying, once the weather gets hot i may break it back out as carrying a lot of water gets heavy! But in winter it's less hassle having to clean it etc just to carry.

People who carry only do so because they:

1. Like to say they do
2. Care about the stigma of carrying
3. Genuinely care about burning extra calories.

These are some of the reasons I carry.

I certainly don't want to look like an old woman using a trolley, it was always have that stigma, Some will say that doesn't bother them and that's fine. Plus with the gym work I do, I'd look ridiculous using a trolley.

53 and I carry and enjoy carrying and don't care what people ever think. Cutting across areas where trolleys can't go, especially in the winter with roped off areas, not carrying any more stuff than I need to, feeling better (fit & healthy) for it are some of the reasons I carry.

I bought an electric trolley and it was a pain charging and forgetting to charge the battery and I had problems with gears and all sorts of issues so it was sold as quick as it arrived. I still have a push trolley in our club shed, its been there for about 12 months unused other than a single time when someone said it would save me shots on the last few holes, rubbish!

Ok i'll take the bait.
, Ohso are you an old woman then, because my old lady also goes to the gym and she uses one [ a shopping one ] Why don't the top pros carry their clubs, the pros on lesser tours use trolleys they don't look like old people male or female.

i carry because i can't be bothered with faffing about with a trolley, setting them up, sticking to paths, going backwards and forwards to it when i accidently hit my ball in some out of the way place etc

and if it burns a few more calories carrying definitely a bonus for me

Don't think I said 57 thoughts did I? 57 threads (figure may or may not be 100% accurate) of a similar nature and therefore similar responses; but not 57 thoughts, sorry.

They are as follows:

1. If you want a trolley get one, do not worry about other peoples' opinions.
2. If you want to carry great! be aware however it's just a bag of golf clubs, it doesn't increase penis size nor make you a candidate for SAS selection.
3. There is no minimum age limit for using one.
4. Properly managed and sensibly used, trolley users do not have the same affect on a course as a JCB. 200 carriers ignoring roped off areas does have a hell of an effect though.
5. I like my push trolley but I prefer my leccy one.
6. Do carriers putt with the bag on their back? If not then surely before they putt out they place their bag in a place convenient for exiting the green quickly once finished - a bit like trolley users.

Indeed they do. There was a Europro tour event at the Earl of Mar last year so I leapt my garden fence to go for a nose. Out of about 10 groups that I watched I saw only one guy carrying.

I use one and I'm 37. I got it last year as I was fed up carrying a wet golf bag across my back. I also find it's much easier to keep things dry and you don't have to worry about holding your brolly if you have a brolly holder.
