Trimming 3W

I would like to trim an 2 inch of my G30 3W Stock graphite shaft, is it case of just removing the grip and cutting an inch of with a saw?Does the end need to be sealed with varnish or some thing?I understand it will change the swing weight but don not think I'm not good enough to notice the difference, I swapped the shaft in my driver for a Ping tour shaft which is shorter than the std stock shaft and this has helped my driving no end, and when I tested the shorter shaft 3W it helped again.The Std 3W stock shaft is 43" and the Ping Tour Shaft is 40.75" , I'm trying to avoid purchasing another Tour shaft for my 3W that I don't use much as I'm not a lover of the Grip down solution

If you take it to your local pro, he/she would do it in 5 mins and shouldn't cost you much and you get to keep the same grip
