Only been playing golf for almost two years and now playing off 23 (unofficial) felt I was getting somewhere. my chipping/putting has improved and my irons really good.
My nemesis has always been the driver, as a result I had been using the my wee rescue off the tee, but over the past few weeks I have concentrated on and practiced using the driver. As a result of poor results of this I have tried so many variations on set up, posture, ball position, swing plane etc that it has screwed up my whole game.
I took my 13 year old son to the range on Saturday for my latest round of punishment and to cut a real long story a wee bit shorter, the wee fella noticed that I had more or less stopped turning my shoulders and my swing had become too armsy and wrists.
Once I had the confidence to turn my shoulders and commit to shot - which was a huge leap of faith, I was hitting the ball great with the driver and irons. In summary I have learnt that if things aren't going well - like hitting the driver. That without proper tuition or know how you can change a lot of things in your swing and end up miles away from where you started and can be a lot worse off.
Thank god I have my own wee PGA coach - how can a wee kid see things when a guy that reads all the mags etc is blind ti it.
Anyone else persevered with their flawed swing only to have something really obvious pointed out to them
Regards
