As per the title ,can any one suggest reasonably priced travel insurance for a "wrinklie"?
I know it is essential, but it appears to be priced so high these days that it is a major concern.
I am looking for single trip to Europe policy.
Thnks in advance for any help.

Surely SAGA will be your best bet? my old man uses them for car and travel, very happy with them as the specialists in the over 60's cover..

It's so expensive now, my old man travels without it. We went away to Spain only recently. Credit card is the fall back.

Hi Stuart
How are you?
Tried both Saga and Age Concern last year and was surprised at the quotes, pretty high.
As per lex's reply I will probably take a chance.
Thanks for all the replies?
Best wishes for Hillside Stuart,I think you are PlayinG.

Now then mal, just spoke to me mum who told me that she gets free insurance (am sure she pays for it in other ways) through the TSB who she banks with. She also books a lot of her hols with saga who they get insurance with as well. My old man had a triple by pass last year and his leukemia is in remission so they are chomping at the bit to book another holiday. They have told me that if you have any medical problems/history and declare it, there is no problems in getting insurance through saga.

a couple of bits that no one has mentioned yet.

1, have you tried the comparison websites for insurance, if not give them a try you may be surprised.

2, why single trip insurance. Again you may be surprised at getting a yearly price which would include holidays in the UK.

3, I would deffo not go anywhere without travel insurance having seen others have major problems.

4, lastly, you mentioned going to Europe, hopefully someone else can give you advice re " I think it is called a green card" which does cover you to an extent whilst in Europe.

good luck and enjoy

think the Green Card was for cars . look at the EHIC card for basic cover.

have a look for European Cover, annual, without skiing in google, do not rely on add ons with TSB / Nat west etc.

Think the main problem will be the pre existing condition and DO NOT go without cover. A guy from our golf club went to Prague 5 weeks ago. Suffered a heart attack and is still there!!!

The Old Fella is in his late 70's, has a Pacemaker, Diabetes and various other issues and it's become too expensive to get holiday insurance.
They're off on a week's cruise around the Med soon and his Insurance is virtually 50% of the cost of the cruise.
They'll be staying in the UK now.

I used Justtravlecover, on line. I'm 67 with a declared minor heart problem, insurance cost £16.80 for 5 days in Tenerife. I should have got cover for the full year multi holidays , silly me.

Spoke to me mother yesterday to say hey up and goodbye as we are off on a Baltic cruise later this morning.

she told me they had rung the bank to confirm insurance. For there holidays. They put mum through to the insurance company who said after 15 mins of questions, yes we can cover you for your hols at an additional cost of £1200.

mum told them to get lost. Consultant has told me old man his heart is 100% ok after triple bypass. His leukemia is in remission. And he is is as fit as a butchers dog. There not best happy.

Statistics show that older people with pre-exisitng medical conditions are more likely to claim on a travel insurance for medical claims than a younger traveller. Think of it as the opposite to car insurance, i.e. your more likely to crash at 17 so you pay more, it gets cheaper as you get older.

Most UK insurers use the same system for pre-screening their customers so you should get same set of questions for each medical condition as you are phoning round for quotes. It what the parameters and risk the insurer decides to attribute to the answers that dictate their price.

For years Saga and Age Concern have had the market sewn up but more companies are now being competitive. I quick google search should thrown up 4 or 5 fairly priced 'old and ill' insurers.

Our product is called Latitude. Google it. Our prices have helped save some customers £100's on their insurance. I did a cruise show recently and one chap we spoke to was paying over £800 for a single trip, we covered him for less than £200.
