There must be some very worried families at present. I know it has been bought up before but would you travel at present given the choices which are few with the situation with Portugal toda.

We need to change a flight booked with EasyJet and we’re looking for Early September for Spain. However because of the uncertainty no idea what will happen.

People need to take a view but it cannot be easy try to come to a balanced decision

EasyJet would let us rebook, but as things stand with our golf, they’re playing hard ball as it’s green when we are due to depart.

im nit overly concerned by covid tbh. Im not denying it, but I’ve had my first jab. Second due shortly. All my family have had both theirs and I can work from home remotely. So have decided I’m going for it.

if it goes red whilst I’m out there, then that’s another nightmare!

Haven't bothered booking anything at all. With the exception of Australia & New Zealand, which were being saved for retirement, I've visited all the places abroad that were musts for me so at the moment I'm quite happy to go without all the inherent aggravation of foreign travel. Once the football fixtures are out we'll look at booking something at home and probably consider somewhere abroad in 2022.

We took out specific insurance, covered to all regions not deemed red.

In answer to the question, no. I love holidays, the choosing, the build up, being there. Not sure how any aspect of that can be relaxing right now and that is the opposite of what I want.

It's a risk to book, we all know it's a risk. I don't like risks, particularly when it comes to holidays ?. It will be UK this year and fingers crossed for next year.

The risk is someone testing positive either before you fly then the insurance won’t cover the loss of the entire holiday or maybe worse someone testing positive before return, then you have to wait until they (and everyone else in the party) test negative, then and only then can you rebook the flight. Increased extra hotel costs and additional return flight costs. A lot hangs on these tests, the cost of them is the least of the issue.

Hoping for a few days in Spain in the autumn, but we certainly haven’t booked anything yet, and won’t do until things are much clearer. Whenever that might be.

Have literally just switched our Portugal trip in October back to the UK. No plans to travel abroad this year at present, that could change if there is a big downward swing in the pandemic, but currently, don't think it's worth the hassle and uncertainty as to whether the destination status will switch last minute ala Portugal yesterday. If somewhere is green, and people CAN travel, doesn't mean they should, and they certainly shouldn't be surprised if they do and the country status is changed whilst they are abroad. They certainly should not get irate if it changes, forcing them into isolation or cutting the trip short, as it is now a pretty likely scenario known before travel. Personally, I work from home, so quarantine is not an issue, but mrs wedge is a nurse and would have to take extra time off to cover any quarantine.

We worked around that by booking our flights individually.

So, if anyone gets it. It's trouble for them.

That being said. We've all had one jab, and will be sticking in our bubble and only socialising outside for golf.

Yes we could get it, but we are also going to be in the Algarve which hasn't really seen a spike it's predominantly Lisbon.

If the wrist happens, so be it.

The travel guy on the BBC nailed it this morning, just because it's a green country doesn't mean it's a green light for everyone to go on holiday, travel with caution and be prepared for things to change very quickly.

As an aside, is there any evidence that some travellers from red and amber countries are using Portugal as a backdoor into the UK without having to isolate?

I love my holidays, from the initial thought right through to looking at the 3000 photos we took when we get back. However, there is no way I would book at this time. I'd rather do without than face the disappointment of cancellation. The main consolation for me is that we are in a far better position today than we were this time last year. Still doesn't stop me yearning for a bowl of Chicken Pad Thai.

2 years in the wilderness for a few reasons but a torn achilles the main culprit. Joined Glenbervie this year so gradually getting back to it.

Yep, torn Achilles will do that. Hope it's better now. Good course to join to get back in to it, I rejoined Pitreavie after I recovered from an accident.

We are not going on holiday purely because of the hassle. I have zero concerns about Covid but I know the tests, general palaver and the jobsworths wet dream that all these rules are, would make for a highly stressful travel experience on a family holiday.

That said, I may have to go with work to the USA at the end of next month though and if so, will tag a few days on for a break. I was on a conference call with someone in Chicago just yesterday and he says that social distancing has stopped, no-one is wearing masks and everything is essentially back to normal. That sounds heavenly and if I can make the trip happen, will endure the messing around at airports etc and definitely go.
