when I open my iPhone 5 on the pc the folder is blank, start a 'transfer pics' wizard and it says there are no pics on my iPhone. Another weird Apple thing no doubt as they hate Windows.

Anyone know a quick work around?

presume there are pics on the Iphone.

I normally plug in the phone, go to my computer, the phone shows as an external drive, click through to find the pics and drag the ones I want into a "Phone pics" folder I created in pictures

Save them all to icloud on your phone and then just log into icloud on your pc (once you have done a sync)

Icloud on phone is in settings and then choose to stream your photos and will do it automatically every time you sync (or set up wifi sync and will do it automatically when plugged in at home)

so do I, except this is a clean windows 7 pro install. There are 4 years worth of pics and vids on the phone

It really wouldn't take that long if you leave the phone plugged in and syncing. We have pics on our pc from over 5 years ago and all are backed up to icloud. You get 5gb free and can purchase another 10gb for £14
Icloud is automatically on your iphone under settings and all you need to do is set up an account and turn on photo stream and sync
It may take a couple of hours initially but every photo / video you take on the iPhone will automatically go to icloud- all mine go direct to my ipad as well

ok, I'll look into it, thanks, could be the storage solution I was after for all the family pics and vids, is it £14 PA or a one off?

Colin, download the photobucket app. It will store all of your pics there for you, also you they are auto hosted with quick links for sharing.

cheers Scott...........not another April fools is it

Haha no, it's a really nice app. It's what I used to get the hosted pictures up here showing in full, it creates 4 different urls so you can email, direct link or show as an IMG. Quick and its free too!

on your pc , go to control panel, folder options, view

put a dot in the box that says "show hidden files & folders"

if you plug your phone in now, can you see the pics as you click through it in My Computer?
