Top 5 Wanted

I'm going to go for;

Troon
Prestwick
Muirfield
The Carnegie Club
Carnoustie

and Turnberry as backup.

Carnegie, good luck getting on there.

Played the Carnegie 2001 cracking course got on for £60 thru the SGU and was all our food and drink,we we're the only ones there all day.

Brendy am lucky to stay 15-20 mins from both Carnoustie and St Andrews and don't really appreciate the fact.Have played Carnoustie loads as my dad was a member there and only played St Andrews once which was this year with gcd.

Off the top of my head:

The Old Course
Turnberry
Carnoustie
Muirfield
Stoke Park (hopefully this coming season)

I'm playing Beau Desert and Bearwood Lakes this year (all being well!) with the forum meets which will be the first two "top notch" courses I've played in quite some time.

You're going to have a ball around MM then :D

:D

Don't worry, I mostly play goat tracks. I just aspire to actually play some good courses! :D

Would love to go on a tour of Scotland playing the famous courses.

These are the ones that I've heard most about, no doubt they're hundreds of miles apart, my geography is rubbish.

St. Andrews Old
Turnberry Ailsa
Carnoustie
Muirfield
Gleneagles
Troon

That's 6. Oops.

Closer to home...

Woodhall Spa
Ganton
Sherwood Forest
The Brabazon
PGA Boarshead

Would love to play Wentworth, Sunningdale, Woburn etc, but I'm never paying those green fees. Just have to get down to 3 and play opens :D

Beau Desert - booked and looking forward to it
Sunningdale - on the wish list for a while but soo expensive
Queenwood - have had this on the waiting-for-someone-to sort-out-a-promised-game-for-a-while list for 3 years, so might as well hold out hope!
West Sussex - may try and do this around the Cooden meeting
Broadstone - this looks a really nice course from the reviews I have seen - and a great winter deal!

Someone on the forum is a member there.

I thought maybe I could play it before him ;)

You don't like IM01's course? Where's that?

Troon or Turnberry,
SA Old Course,
Lough Erne,
Rosapenna
Loch Lomond (Yea yea I know, it looks cool though!)

Played two of these, good choices!!

Old Course
Carnoustie
Royal County Down (might get a draw for an ulster cup game?)
Muirfield
Troon

Think I quite like links golf............. :o

Still hopefully have an invite for Royal Portrush, so intend to play there in 2011, and would like to play rathmore too
Lough erne,
concra wood,
rosapena

Realistic based on funds
Blackmoor (already allocated cash)
Downshire
Blue Mountain
Bird Hills
Sand Martins

The middle three are all p&p so I can get on cheap and I can get freebies at the last. No cash realistically for anything special unless I save hard or win on the lottery. Not exactly world beaters but cutting my cloth accordingly.

On the plus side my mum and the in-laws were going halves on some new irons so I guess I could try and get the cash and book some awaydays.

Good call Homer re Blackmoor. For that you can choose your tee time , who you play with , and you are favourite to win the hidden holes prize !! :D

My choice :
Old Course (booked)
New Course (Booked)
Scotscraig (hopefully with Steve)
Silloth on Solway (hopefully play on trip up to St Andrews)
Bearwood Lakes (hint hint)

I notice a few guys here arnt even willing to travel outside their county nevermind sample some of the best clubs/courses in the world, and we thought the yanks were bad! :P

1: Old Course
2: The Renaissance
3: Rockliffe Hall
4: Muirfield
5: Royal Aberdeen

My list of courses that i'll probably play this coming year. Should get to at least 3 out of the 5 depending on work commitments.

I think i'll wander a wee bit further a field for a few of mine.

No particular order.
Bro Hof Slott(Sweden)
Sperone(France/Corsica)
Les Bordes(France)
Royal Dornoch
Sandwich

The OP said realistic, not a dream list.

The bloke that owns The Carnegie will have to sell it sooner or later. Its just not right that a course of this quility has no one playing it. :(

As a follow on from the top 5 played thread i was thinking about the 5 i would like to play that are realistic to funds etc..

1.Old Course
2.Muirfiled
3.Carnoustie
4.Turnberry
5.Ganton

What courses would you like to play in the coming year(s)???

I think your definition of realistic to funds is different to mine. Isn't Carnoustie £130 a round ? and i imagine the other Scottish ones must be similar ?

I had an e-mail from my club recently saying that there is a publication coming out soon (can't remember which one)which gives the top 100 clubs in the UK that you can play for less than £80. Should be interesting and Blackmoor is in it !! Think these courses will be more in my price bracket. ;)
