top 3 courses in the West Midlands.............your views.

Firstly Beau Desert is Staffordshire and the Belfry is Warwickshire, as is Maxstoke & Kenilworth ;)

So, are we sticking to the OP's West Midlands or.......:mmm:

That depends on what is meant by West Midlands. The West Midlands Region does include Staffordshire and Warwickshire - and the County of West Midlands.

I would agree with these three but I have not played Hollinwell . It also depends on what ' The Midlands ' covers. I don't rate the Belfry courses above these and can't comment on Little Aston. Forest of Arden is good in patches but Sherwood Forest is a marvellous place to play.

Edit
Delete Sherwood Forest as it is in the east.

My three in the west mids are Enville, Beau Desert and Church Stretton.

I've played Hollinwell a couple of times and it is up there. But being controversial I'd say I enjoyed Sherwood Forest just as much, possibly because I shot a good score there and Hollinwell beat me up a bit. Also Coxmoor is a really nice course about 1 mile from Hollinwell.

Racist ;)

I don't like Bovril
I haven't wore a tie since school
And I certainly don't like slade

That covers all of the important points I believe

You don't like Slade!!! Heathen. If you take out the Christmas song they were a great band.

The postal addresses of all the said courses I referred to are as stated, Warwickshire & Staffordshire, simples.

I could accept a Midlands region but you tell anyone in Warwick or Kenilworth they live in the West Midlands and they'll laugh at you.

I've not been playing for long (this time around) my 3 favourite courses so far have been:

Swindon/blackhills
Handsworth
Cleobury mortimer

I used to play brandhall, which is a really decent municipal and quite challenging. I also play Warley woods if I need to get a quick 9 holes in.

When I used to live in Birmingham many moons ago they used to have some decent council owned courses. I read recently that they have now been sold to a private company. But they were a good way to get people into golf so I hope they new company keeps them open.

Always used to enjoy playing the muni at Harborne. I think it must have held the record for the most holes intersecting at one point, as I am sure at one place you could be hit by balls from at least 4 holes.

People from the West Midlands Region will laugh at anything.

Which I am playing today ;) Let's hope my golf is up there with the quality of the course.

Really enjoyed the Kings course. Also thought the Warwickshire itself was a good set up, really friendly chap in the pro shop, got lucky at the range as I paid for 50 balls and at least 200 came out and also it seemed free of signs saying what you can't do in the car park, dress codes etc etc.

One of my playing partners came in black socks and shorts and I was more concerned than the chap behind the counter, as he said it was no problem and they were not worried about the colour of someone's socks. Which I found refreshing. It had a good vibe and there were a lot of people in the bar afterwards which is a good sign.

Also only cost £20 for the round which is really good value. Yes some of the greens had a few pitch marks in them, but I wish it well and will be going back.

If we are talking within the boundaries of the West Midlands, then it narrows it down to inner city course's within the Greater Birmingham area and Coventry.
If thats the case then i'd have to go with.....

Olton
Copt heath
Sutton

If we're allowed to have course's within the 'area'

Beau Desert
Maxstoke
Enville
