Have a great day. (I think 120 pts won the club event last w/end!!!!!)

3x40pts foursomes stableford - oooh err. Don't think me and buddy will manage that - what with his hook off the tee and my historic (recent years) propensity to hit s***ks (for which I now have the answer - so fingers crossed)

So, how did you get on? Weather was ok and I played Avening on Sun which seemed in reasonable shape.

Having played a couple of time, any thoughts on reflection you'd like me to pass back to the club (+'ve or -'ve) - PM if you prefer.

Weather Ok Saturday afternoon? Well if playing in a gale is OK then sure it was :mmm: Even the captain and members who were about said the wind was exceptional - even for Minchinhampton (our trolleys kept getting blown over - mine at least a dozen times) Weather in morning for Old Course was windy but OK - I like the Old Course very much btw.

Afternoon the wind was horrendous. Almost unplayable - in fact some would say that it was unplayable. Avening and Cherington courses were in pretty good nick I thought. In some ways I prefer the Avening as a bit more visual interest. Cherington may be the 'championship' course but in a gale when you have your head down into the wind struggling to stand up - it is a bit of a back and forth slog. And trying to concentrate on putting on the big swinging greens when the ball is getting blown about and you are struggling to stand...difficult

No surprise that there were MANY sub 20 stableford point rounds in the afternoon. I think the winning aggregate was 92 pts over three rounds - quite! Averaging 28pts a round was GOOD :) Compare with the club closed comp last week with a winning total of 120pts.

Enjoyable but now done it two years in a row and don't think I'll do it next year. More's the pity in a way as I haven't yet been able to properly enjoy either the Avening or the Cherington due to the weather this year and last.

Sorry to hear the weather was so bad, we were visiting friends on saturday so didn't see the weather first hand. I did notice a lot of debris on the course on Sun + a downed tree but had assumed it was overnight.

What a shame as it is a great event but the golf is enough of a challenge without added weather agro!
