Hi guys, I know I spend most of my time on here fretting about how poorly I played so thought I'd share a good news story. Played today, only two temp greens and took a half set. Think the half set helped with shot making, often taking too much club and swinging easy. Had a nightmare with my putter though six three putts  and two very dodgy last minute breaks on the two temps :(.

Finished with a total of 37 putts and a personal best score of 96 with 41 Stableford points. Given its my first proper outing in ages I was very pleased.

The secret? Just going out with no expectations and having fun (thanks for the nudges: especially Robobum)! Here's hoping I can start next year in the same vein.

Happy New Year everybody and I hope those of you who are snowed off get out soon.

Well done fella dont analyse it too much, scoring below handicap is always nice.

NB any temp greens renders it null and void for Personal Bests :D

Not for me. I'm a snow man. I melt when the heat is on. 1 over par for 15 holes, then the usual bogey, quadruple, treble finish to come in one under h/cap. Damn.

Well played Tiger. Keep it going next year.

You must be doing something right though. 1 over through 15 is excellent golf. Are the last few holes at your place tough??

They are the way I play them.

They are a good 3 holes to finish. Weird par 3 (can't see the pin), par 4, left is gone, fairway slopes right to left, and then par 5, same sloping fairway, dog leg left, anything left off the tee or second shot is gone forever.

Snap hook isn't the shot? But it's my way of playing them

Thanks guys. And cheers Brendy for the it doesn't count NB :D

Any PB is a PB, you can only play the course in front of you. Even congu allow you two temps for a qualifier.
Ok its a personal best for 16 full holes and 2 temps. :D

Personal satisfaction comes from the course under normal conditions. Anyway, this isn't the issue, the guy is improving and I hope it continues.

Tiger, perhaps you should have posted pictures of your achievement for Brendy.... ;)

LMFAO! :D

Funny thing is I was robbed of a shot on both temps as I only had a four footer each time and they decided to dive away from the hole at the last minute

Well done Tiger :)

Is that the first time under 100?

Thanks Region. Second time previously squeaked in with a 99. But played much more consistently today and felt more in control. Made some good decisions which was pleasing. Honestly felt I could have broken 90 if it hadn't been for poor putting and a dreadful 8 on a par 4. Hope it's the start of some consistency in breaking 100.

In that case, Oh the times I could have been 10 under gross!:p Only for my bad putting, chipping and teeshots.
I hate to break it to you matey, consistency doesn't even come with single figures!
Keep plugging away though Tiger, I reckon if you stick at it you could be sub 90's this year, enthusiasm really does count for a lot (and a little knack, and common sense and...) and thats what keeps you going when you have had a bad day or two. I love the game and otherwise Id have given up by now such is my hatred of one hole card wreckers.
