A comment on another thread got me thinking.

How many sell their old kit, to either fund new kit, or to 'never go back', and how many keep old kit just in case?

I guess if money were no object then perhaps we'd hang onto our old kit, if the Mrs allows us to clutter the place up with it!

Or does the choice of kit around the house just confuse us even more when deciding what to use?

I tend to keep all my old gear. It's never worth a great deal, and I realy can't be arsed with the tyre kickers.

Clutering up my workshop...

1 set of X12's

1 set of Big Bertha's

5 drivers

6 Putters

Various 3 & 5 woods

Various wedges

6 golf bags.

Looks like I'll need a skip soon. :p

I usually punt it on.

We change clubs for a reason. The only time I didnt get rid of a set of irons I ended up going back to them 3 months later. I think I must have been having a Nastradamus moment then!

Ship them on as soon as possible.

Have kept the odd putter if I was ever unsure of the new blade going in the bag, just as a safety net.

I've kept most of what I've bought. I have lots of clubs for sale (theoretically), but tend to wait to find a home for them rather than actively putting them on ebay or in the local paper.
Having said that, I'm reminded I was going to sell my Callaway FT-3 driver and Callaway Heavenwood in the paper.

I'd be too embarrassed to sell my stuff... even the stuff I currently use :(

Most of the old stuff have stone marks all over them, grips like rocks and grooves like Teflon :(

I tend to keep most of my stuff although HID put her foot down last year and so several bags, putters, drivers and sets of irons went. I still have the R9 irons, my R7 Limited driver, a Cleveland XLS draw bias driver, three or four putters of varying types, more golf balls than even I can lose and two carry bags plus my big trolly bag (and all my shoes just about fitting in the wardrobe)

I always sell to buy, started off with a £75 complete set with bag and trolley which I split up and totalled about £300 for and funded all my clubs with not much outlay to be honest. I never but something to sell on but if I try it and dont like it I always make a profit most times.

Pretty much always move stuff on. I've got a couple of clubs that might get used again but generally we've had such a falling out that they have to go.

I used to sell everything until a few months ago when I thought I would give some older clubs a ty before they hit Ebay. Got on so well with some that they stayed in the bag. Normally would have bought a new club but now happy to give the old ones a go again. Also it is really hard to get decent money for second hand clubs these days. The price drops so quickly in the shops as new gear comes out that people will not pay that much for second hand kit

It's weird that. I had a Ping G5 to sell (my wife reminded me I was nearly 40 not 60 :)) and put it in the paper for about £70. Then (it was a while ago) they were on golfbidder for £100+ and trading on ebay for similar.

Some geezer turned up and said he had £60 in his pocket, take it or leave it. I said I'd leave it, so he scrabbled around for change and nicked a £5 off his mate. He came up with about £68.50 so I gave up and told him to take it and bugger off. Such stress.....
