During my round today, my driver cracked on the crown. Didn't sky it or anything, and no abuse was involved, must've just been faulty.

Anyways, after my round I took it to Direct Golf UK in Farnborough, which was previously Nevada Bobs and asked if they could do anything as it was bought from there 6 months ago.

Simon, the manager, couldn't change it there and then as the shop is now a completely different company and it wasn't taken over by DGUK so they had no responsibility for any returns for Nevada Bobs sales.

Either way, he took the driver from me and said he would sort it out with TaylorMade as they should replace it for me and then loaned me a demo driver so I wouldn't have to go without a driver tomorrow.

Great customer service when it wasn't their problem and they were under no obligation to do anything for me. Above and beyond the call of duty. (Ok, it may have helped that I just bought a set of irons and wedges from them, but still...) Two thumbs up! :)

Good service. Well done them.

Didn't someone else on here crack a TM driver recently. Makes you wonder about some of this modern gear despite all the space age materials and cutting edge technology.

Er, yes... That was me... :o Though that one was abuse on my part!

This one was bought by a mate about 6 months ago and he gave it to me cheap after I broke my last one. Ironically, I was being careful with this one!

Hmmm. Note to self; don't lend Fourputt my driver. :D

Very good to hear. The guy has guaranteed your custom again and so it is a win win for everyone concerned. I think I've broken my TM driver as well. On several holes it made this really pleasing noise and went dead straight :o :D :p

He's a bit of an angry little man. Does make a mean Jambalaya though! :D

Angry?!? Moi? Never!

Well, not anymore at any rate. Well and truly learned my lesson on the club slamming front! Besides that, played with another guy who did it and it annoyed the hell out of me. Realised how irritating my outbursts must have been!

Suffice to say, I have reread my Dr Bob books and I am now a picture of calm and serenity....

you just dont get that kinda customer service anywahere these days. That guy deserves a nice bottle of something

In my local golf shop a guy brought his driver back which had got snapped by baggage handlers, it was to get sent back to get repaired but the guy in the shop gave him another one as a replacement! Suffice to say I always get my stuff from there.

That is nice. They will put in fraudulent warranty claims for you. What other criminal offences are available?

What was fraudulent about it? Who said it was a warranty claim? The guy was paying for a new shaft and rather than have him wait while it got sent away and returned gave him one instead.

Get off your high horse and stop preaching. Tosser

Oh piss off yourself, gobshite. Your post read like they were sending it back for a manufacturer's replacement. Any decent golf shop can replace a shaft in store, including DG, but they send warranty claims back.

Went back today to pick up my new irons and find out what they could do about my driver.

They said they could help me out but they didn't have a R9 SuperTri in stock in my spec. So they would either send the club back to TaylorMade and wait for the replacement for me, or I could have the current new price of a SuperTri (239) towards whatever they had in stock!

Had a go with a load of drivers and am now the proud owner of an R11 which I ended up paying about 30 quid for! (R11 was 300, minus 10% from this month's mag, minus 239) :)

Tried out a Callaway Octane, R11, Burner Superfast 2, Ping G15, Adams Speedline F11 and Mizuno JPX800. In the end it was a toss up between the R11 and the Mizuno. Ended up going for the R11 because of the option to easily adjust later or change the shaft easily.
