Well, I was 39 today but went out on a bit of a session yesterday to celebrate. After what I believe was the third bottle of wine we started thinking of things do do over the next 12 months to make my 40th year a memorable one. So far the ideas that have come up have been pretty cliched and reek a bit of mid life crisis but the first few that came up were:

1. Have my first tattoo (been thinking about this for a while)

2. Pass my motorbike test and rent a Harley for a few days (again a bit of a long term dream)

3. Play an Open venue course.

4. At least start to learn to playthe guitar that I bought to learn when I was 30.

Anyone got any other suggestions.

Play off single figures, I'm off 14.5 and I'm 39 next month and before I turn 40 I want to be 9.4 max.

I would do if I had not signed up to go to Download the week after (damned expensive). One thing I wanted to do over the year was see some of the bands that had slipped me by so the chance to see Black Sabbath was too good to miss. Also the first band I went to see was Metallica on the Damaged Justice Tour so to see them again in my 40th year seemed cool.

Pfft! Happy Birthday anyways Greg. You really should drop the hint to the missus about coming over for a long weekend the week before as a treat for her!

That ship passed a few years ago,so 50 for me is playing Lahinch,Tralee,Doonbeg,Ballybunion and Waterville with my young lad, yes i like links golf, lol,

Mine was to get to single figures before 40 i got there the day after my birthday so happy days.

As im 50 on 27 December, you should have asked the question 10 years ago

Fragger ( Ancient Monument)

Your target now has to be the Holy Grail - play a round in the same number of strokes as your age. Got within 7 shots this year but the gap is narrowing - you have some time to go before you are challenging.

i've got a while to go and i've accomplished a few of them.....

i have had the notion to start plaing the guitar but never have and i won't ever get a tattoo.....no interest in having one at all.

I got to 40 and had a big knees up in the village pub. 3 weeks later the pancreas gave up the ghost and ambulanced into hopsital for a 3 1/2 week stay and diabetes as a bonus - Being 40 isn't all its cracked up to be :mmm::cheers:

Few laps at the Nurburgring and or track day at Assen on the bike.

Try Royal Marine Commando selection to see how Id cope.

Golf related would be a hands on lesson with Carly Booth.

My first concert was a coach trip from Stamford to the Brixton Academy for the Damaged Justice Tour with Danzig in support. Only the 3 headline acts named so far so have The Prodigy on Friday night, Metallica performing the whole of the Black Album on Saturday and Black Sabbath on Sunday. I am camping there for all 3 days plus a couple before hand to soak up the atmosphere.

Participate in a ménage a trois - probably better fun if you are the only bloke involved.
Trap, kill and eat a mammal bigger than your head - domestic pets not included.
Join the bladder club - ask if you don't know.

Wow wish I could get away with the three days!! Will have to sit in the garden and hope that the wind blows in Tw right direction!! Got another 5 years to get everything else in!!
