As someone who gave up golf in his late teens after falling out of love with the game (not enough cash to do my PGA exams, a BIG loss of form, beer, girls, football) and not starting again for 10 years I really regret it especially the lost time I could have played with my dad (as per my article). Haad an on-off affair from the age of 25-35 with the game before jacking it in (family reasons). Now I'm back. Last year I went from 20 to 13 in a matter of months sweeping all before me in July and August (medal and stableford wins and multiple greedy winner). This year my game has hit rock bottom again (last in club championship) and at times I've struggled to put club on ball.

Have I thought about quitting. Of course. However my love for the game, and especially the joy of practicing (as long as it is honing rather than reinforcing mistakes) and learning from ones errors has more than kept me going. Sure my self-esteem and my pride (getting some serious grief about my form from my mates) have been knocked but I'm a fighter and I will get better. Anyway I don't fish and I'd rather go round in 120 every weekend than spending 2 hours on the shopping run in Sainsbury's

i have been a bit fed up the last few months , busy at work, not getting to the golf and as a result not playing well falling out with all things related

Dont panic, no plans to give up folks, probably just bored playing the same courses over and over.
I have a busy August so will probably not be playing again until September, hopefully re-enthused by then.

personnally I wished I'd taken the oppertunity to take up the game all those years ago whilst I was stillat school. It was one cricket season & the teacher came around asking for volenteers to go to Cold Ashby & learn how to play golf.

Now it was my grandfather who first introduced me to golf & showed me how to grip a club & putter etc. He'swalso thre person I inherited some rather nice fishing equipment off including a nice Hardeys fly reel... Now I've recently invested in a Greys Fly rod to have a go, though I've yet to have the time to try it out as I've intended. Who knows.
