Seriously??!

1) The ballot only came in for the 150th, at St Andrew’s, in 2022…

2015, when Slumbers took the reigns (and the article talks of a huge contrast between then and now) wasn’t a primitive era….really not that far removed in many areas from today

Most importantly, what on earth do you mean by “events get left behind”??? Who in their right mind cares how many millions Rory makes?
Do you think the Open would lose gravitas if it hadn’t had the huge inflation of prize money since 2015??😂

Would golf fans not watch the Open if the prize money today had increased only the same as inflation since 2015?

I do not understand your logic and reasoning at all

Why just Rory 🤷‍♂️

It’s all the players wanted more slices of the money pie , bigger telly deals , bigger corporate sponsers , players wanting more money

All major sporting events go the same way , go to any big event and it’s full of corporate,

And yes events have the potential to get left behind , The Open wouldn’t be immune to that if it hadn’t sold itself out to the highest bidder and then jumped on the corporate bandwagon

I used to watch a lot of golf, mostly PGA on Thursday and Sunday evenings. Occasionally European Tour when it was in the Middle East and started early.

Throw in all of the Majors. Now I don't really watch anything bar majors and odd big event.
Same here.!
I’ll watch if there isn’t anything else on!

They need to upgrade some of the commentary people.
Start with Mginley.

My interest dropped like a stone as soon as LIV formed. No interest in LIV. No interest in PGAT, once you knew a handful of the world's best players were not part of it. Never really any interest in DP World Tour, as it is on when I'm at work or golfing myself.

I would frequently watch the PGAT coverage during the evenings from Thu-Sun, especially the closing few hours on a Sunday. That was only a couple or so years ago. Not watched any Tour golf this year, only tuned into the Majors.

I was surprised to hear the other day that the DPWT were reporting an increase in viewing numbers for this year over last.

Are their tournaments available to watch online, via apps etc? They may be counting views via different platforms. I don't know if that is the case but might answer the point being made
