The Players Championship

It looks like even Mark Roe has had enough of seeing every shot Tiger plays. He just went to the commercial break with the words" We'll be back in a moment with the Tiger Woods Show" !!! Got my own e/w bets on Sergio and Louis Oosthuizen.

Hoffman having a mare on the first (his tenth) and a real horror tee shot from Tiger on 8.

Saw that with Hoffman - shocking display after the way he'd done his front 9. Fair do's to him coming away with a 7. Even more fair do's to get the shots back again over the next 8 holes!

Laughed when Roey went into one of the breaks saying something like "We'll be back in a few minutes with more from the Tiger show"

I love TPC Sawgrass (and therefore The Players) largely because of playing the EA PGA Tour then Tiger Woods golf computer games since I was a teenager. It was an unbelievable buzz playing the course for real.

One over par not too a bad first round for Tiger?

I thought so. Given that I've gotten into golf properly in the post-Tiger boom era, I can only relate to his past dominance via second-hand experience and reading about his historical achievements. But to have finished 17th at the masters and get off to a fair start in TPC has got to be positive, when he is in effect trying to rebuild his game, confidence and reputation from square one.

However, he said himself that Sawgrass is like a marmite course (not those exact words :D), if you're on it great, if not, you get punished. Still 3 more days, I personally hope to see him make the cut and finish top 25 to set him up for the rest of the season as I want to experience some more Tiger boom, first hand!

Tiger's tee shots so far have been amazing. 14, 15, 16 and 18 absolutely blitzed, his seconds shots have been seriously poor though. That last one on 18 was horrible. Should be cashing in and shooting really low right now, just can't get the irons going.

Good signs from Tiger, confident driving and short game working again. Loose approaches costing him but, whatever happens this week, it looks like he's heading in the right direction. Still a long way to go to compete for a win in this company but progress none the less.

Driving looking great, short game solid, putting good as always, but his approach play has been amateur. Keeps leaking the ball left. Hopefully he'll get it sorted on the back-nine and make the cut. Sort out his irons, make the cut and he could go low tomorrow!

Errm, unless you've got better coverage from somewhere it's only the "featured group" coverage at the moment, which he's in....

Not sure who does the coverage for the Players but it seems the best of the lot from the U.S. -
Main coverage isn't concentrating on certain golfers - good spread and we are seeing more than just putting
