Practice round being shown on sky and also the brit..the open’s YouTube channel, link below if anyone needs it…

The crowd following the Rory, Tommy, Hatton, Vic group is nuts.

Just occurred to me the sheer number of Banks that headline sponsor golf events, does it make you want to open an account with them?

If not, what was the problem with tobacco companies 😉

There was a time when the US Open and some supporters were trying to make 'National Open' a thing, but it never took off. Quite rightly too. US Open. British Open. Simple.

Course looks in fantastic condition, rough looks really punative. Greens don't look particularly devilish. Looks like they've flattened out the bunkers meaning balls won't roll back to the middle so much.

Forecast looks like it will be fairly breezy for at least a couple of days with gusts up to 25mph.

According to one of my playing partners who's cousins a greenkeeper there that's exactly what they've done. They've also been watering the rough the past few weeks to get it really thickened up. I guess they didn't want a repeat of St Andrews last year if the weather stayed dry and calm.

Had first look at new 17th this evening…and not convinced by the sand between the tee and apron, and the sand behind the green. As much as they’ve clearly put great effort into giving it all a natural ‘look’, it still looks contrived, to my eyes anyway. Just doesn’t seem to be what sheep, wind and nature would create unaided.

But I do very much like that its about 135yds long as that is our intended length for our 13th when we build the new tee shortening the hole from it‘s current 166yds - and many members question why we are doing it.

Really looking forward to this now, even though I'm working all week, it will be on in the background.
I'll get the last few hours at night at home though!!

Hope Matthew Jordan has a good tournament, can only imagine the buzz hitting the opening tee shot.
