Didn’t Rory have a dominant win just before a major recently, then failing to make the cut? I think he is the favourite, but you won’t get much back for a pound but have a good chance of getting nothing at all. I hope he wins, but he wouldn’t be the one I bet on. For practical reasons.
not sure.
Always looks to be in contention recently tho.
His putter can be hot & cold, but certainly looked better on the greens last wk.
He is short at 8/1 tho.

Re naming convention, I think we have to chill a bit & cut some slack

This forums shown there’s more than a few who didn’t/don’t know the difference between the PGA of America and the PGAT & perhaps more relatable, many of us on here use variants such as the US Masters or just The Masters but isn’t it supposed to be The Masters Tournament

I don't see posters on here clambering to correct the rest of the online world on that one. Folks in glasshouses...

Bets are on…..
Main two are Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith.
Couple of smaller bets on DJ and Talor Gooch.
Really think the weather could play a big part this week and depending which side of the draw you get.

Hopefully you weren't hoping to watch Smith in one of the featured groups....

Not sure if there's a legitimate reason the reigning champ isn't getting coverage, but it's irked a few people over on twitter.

Before the proper action gets underway. We have a The Open individual/pairs comp on Sunday that I'm looking forward to

Individual scoring for us but everyone gets drawn a Pro from Hoylake and their Saturday result is added to our own Sunday score to determine the placings
Could salvage a mediocre round or ruin a worldie depending on who you get!

We've got a blue tee scramble at our place, teams are drawn to include varying levels of handicap - it'll be the first time the youth has played off our back tees, at 7030 yards, it's proper championship length - I'm sure he'll love it.. :ROFLMAO:

What featured groups? How do people know what groups are “featured” or not

The Open shows multiple people regardless. The all get coverage

He is playing with the US Open champion and Schuaffle during the prime spots

The only people that are “irked” are LIV bots who are trying to create something out of nothing

Which are website groups to be able to watch if you aren’t watching the main coverage across all the networks

“Members of The One Club will be able to watch live streams of two morning and two afternoon groups at www.theopen.com/watch, including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.”

As with the likes of the Masters there will be multiple options for people to watch on Sky or host broadcasters and Smith will get coverage

Why does it bother people SO much if someone calls it “The British open”?
Doesn't bother me at all but it is also held outside Britain.
Edit
Just catching up see the point has been discussed before.
Maybe they should just seek sponsorship and call it the Liv open to end controversy.

Thought occurred to me watching 'On The Range' last night.

Most have them have a very deliberate grip config but in all the threads I see on here re club fitting and how fandabbydosey it is, I don't recall folks saying the fitter tried me on xyz grip then abc grip

Are different grips part of the club fitting for AMs ?

Wikipedia is the oracle of truth...

The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf .....
In that case...

"In 2017, a representative of the R&A openly stated that it is a priority to "eradicate the term British Open" and have a single identity and brand of "The Open" in all countries.[76] Tournament partners, such as the PGA Tour, now refer to it without "British" in the title,[77] media rightsholders are contractually required to refer to the event as The Open Championship,[76] and the official website has released a statement titled "Why it's called 'The Open' and not the 'British Open'" stating that "The Open is the correct name for the Championship. It is also the most appropriate".[73] The R&A's stance has attracted criticism from some commentators.[76][78][79]"
