So nice to see pro's having to hit 5 iron for a 190ish yard shot rather than an 8 or 7 that they would in the US...

The course looks fantastic. It’s nice to see it looking so green (not surprising given the weather!) but a rare thing compared to recent Opens.

Would like to see them just up the ante of the rough a bit… seeing them all go down the left on the 1st and get decent lies is annoying

Agree. The rough seems too easy on a number of holes.

I watched that amateur who is leading on the "Live At The Range" coverage yesterday. He had 155mph ball speed with his 5 iron and when Boxall asked him to go after a drive he hit 202mph ball speed but said his playing speed was around 190mph. Going to be seeing a lot more of the amateurs coming through with speed like this.

Yeah, young Scottish lad who had 195mph ball speed and 380 carry. Think Rory managed a 188mph and 350 carry according to the launch monitor.

It won't be long before most young, top amateurs coming through all have 190mph ball speed.

Aaargh…just know that overuse of super slo-mo, especially in shots of individuals in the crowd, is going to get irritating…please cease and desist, at least severely curtail, it’s use. Now that that’s off my chest I can get back to enjoying the golf.

The super slo-mo works great for such as tricky manufactured shots and bunker shots as we get to see the player’s technique…beyond that it is extraneous frippery.

Surprised how hard it's playing and the gusts are only expected to reach 16mph. Forecast suggest next 3 days will be a bit stiffer, reaching 24mph on Friday and Sunday. Saturday looks wet.
