My roll up group of 24 has been playing now for the last five years or more and sadly the first of our number has passed away after a short illness.

We're all devastated but are taking comfort from our group and going out tomorrow in celebration of his friendship and many many many happy memories.

Raising a glass to our mate tonight and trying to keep our heads up for those left behind tomorrow.

Remember the good times tomorrow, it was a short illness and he is now at rest.

Enjoy tomorrow.. And all the best me man.

Our group sing a song after every roll up

Well meet again
Dont know where
Dont know when
But ill know well meet again
Some sunny day

It probably comes from a song im too young to know about but it is sung after every Thursday rollup no exceptions.

Sorry for your loss

A guy I worked with for many years was buried today, only 54. A happy jovial guy, always had a smile on his face. He had taken early retirement the week before and a few days later he is dead from a massive brain haemorrhage.

Live every day like it is your last because one day you will be right

Or a nice bench on the tee at the side of his fave hole ( or the hole that bogged him off the most )

Talking to a guy about our golf day. His head was a shed about which job to go for. I told him about me going to hospital to see a pal who had emergancy bowel surgery. A pal who had a heart attack coming back from another pal who is riddled with secondary cancers from his throat cancer. Pal in hospital said another pal rang him an said "why did you not tell me" because you have enough on your plate with your lung cancer. All This after we went to a pals funeral three week ago who died of a brain tumour 1 yr after finishing work.

Pal who i rang said sod it i am goin for job wi less money and lot less hours

The moral of the story. Leave this life full of memories and not dreams. 👍

Knock it stiff Johnny

Lovely tradition. It's an old WWII song sung by Vera Lynn.
