The Go-Kart

I know someone with a Stewart and they are odd. It was as if he was being followed around by a metal dog. Very impressive - but I'd rather have the spare £1000 in my pocket.

I'm glad everyone seems pleased with the GK's, but have to say I don't see what's so great about them sending out a damaged Kart, and then agreeing to change it ?

As Homer says, Parmo is only 80% sure that the kart was damaged prior to him getting it. There are a lot of companies out there who would tend to look at the 20% that was left and deny all responsibility.... ;)

Here's one for you. About 6 weeks after receiving my kart, I was playing at Lewes GC with some mates. I stupidly left my GoKart switched on (thinking I could catch it up after I had picked my provisional ball up) and allowed it to trundle up the fairway. It was heading towards a greenside bunker and a mate of mine, thinking he was doing me a favour, stuck his foot out in front of the kart to stop it. Because of the weight of my bag and the fact that the wheels were still being driven, the bag tipped over backwards landing on the handle. There was a loud crack and I found that the retaining latch for the handle had broken. Totally my fault. Felt gutted. My mate felt gutted too because he hadn't known how to turn the kart off and thought he was doing me a favour. As I say, totally my fault.
I rang Gokart the following day to explain my problem. They sent out a replacement kart the following day, picked mine up, let me use the replacement kart whilst mine was repaired, and then delivered mine back at work a week later like new.
Cost to me??? Not a penny. Not even the price of postage.
I sell cars for a living. If you came back to me a few days after taking delivery and said there was a scratch on the bonnet, what would I do????
Yep, you've guessed it.....not a lot.

Well lets hope it doesn't tip over again then, if it breaks that easily. ;)

As I said I wasnt 100%.

The GK offers everything I need from a trolley.

I looked at MC & PK and though they look sturdy they don't look compact or easy to move from home to club and vice versa. I also had issues whilst looking at them about the service, if you have any problems YOU have to run around looking for a authorized repairer which could be miles away and if you don't drive like myself is a big problem. To me having a battery placed on a tray is pretty ugly and basic, whereas the GK looks smart, has excellent power, the best service in the golf industry, is very compact and does the job at half the price of the over priced market leaders.

As promised - a few words about go-karting following first outing.
Easy on space in boot of the car. Easy and quick to assemble. Pulled bag round the course without problem. It is a simple machine for a simple job. It worked well and I found the controls straightforward and the motor reasonably quiet.
My playing partner has a Motocaddy that is about 3 years old. The GK seems bigger (bag higher up?)and was quieter and more powerful. He described it as ugly. He didn't like the fact that it was made out of plastic and thought the front had a "Star Trek" look to it.

Verdict? It is a budget trolley that does its job. Whether it will stand the test of several years golf is another matter.

Did I feel the benefit of having an electric trolley (I have never used one before)? Yes. Did I play better as a result? No. I will not, however, blame it for my 4 putt on the 13th.

I took mine out for the first time last weekend and found I did play better as I had more energy over the last few holes. I honestly think it will out live any MC or PK as the GK wont rust or scratch.

I find the people who don't like them are usually the ones that have paid top price for their trolleys, they end up with the same ones as everyone on the course and are just jealous that a trolley at half the price has better power, folds smaller, easier to assemble and better service that the "top" brands and whats best it’s a UK company doing it.

How is it that no one from the Forum GoKart Appreciation Society has posted a full review of the GoKart in the Post A Review section ? :D
